Juicing: Natural Way to Get Your Vitamins

February 18, 2015 by Amanda R DeWitt

Hey guys! Have you ever tried juicing?

No. I don’t mean a juice fast. I would never back up a diet only including juices because I honestly think it’s too drastic of a move and just another dieting “trick” that could backfire. (Read: you might lose weight but will end up being super hangry and end up eating your arm off. No bueno.)

I do, however, believe that drinking juice alongside a balanced diet can help add needed nutrients into your life! Juicing allows the nutrients to digest super quickly without the fiber that comes along with regular fruits and veggies (although fiber is NOT a bad thing. please note that.).

Juicing can also help the body’s detoxification process and might be just the thing for you and your liver after one too many drinks. (It is the day after Mardi Gras after all…) 😉

Depending upon your dietary needs, juicing might be for you!

Ask anyone that you know about their goals, and they’ll tell you that one of them is to get healthier this year. Whether it’s via a new diet, exercise regimen or fitness plan, it seems like we are all working harder to get fit these days. This can be a good thing as long as it doesn’t disrupt things too much.

With today’s busy lifestyles, who has time to count calories – or worse yet, points? We don’t have time to write down every morsel that slips past our lips, and we’re sure you don’t, either.

One solution that many people are discovering, quite to their amazement and delight, is the power of juicing. By just adding a few ingredients, you can create delicious concoctions in your kitchen in no time. Making your own juice with a juicer machine saves both time and effort. Vegetables are much more affordable when you can buy them in bulk, and what better way to use them while they’re fresh than by making a nutritious drink?

Bottled juices are expensive, often contain unwanted ingredients like sugar and preservatives, and worse yet – they add glass, plastic and paper to the dumps and landfills. If you are one of those environmentally conscious people, you still have to take the time to rinse and bag them up in order to pile them in your car to take to the recycle center. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones, you have recycle pick up in your neighborhood, but that is not usually the norm in most communities.

So gather some vegetables and fruit, add a few herbs and spices, and juice your way to good health. The vitamins and minerals in fresh juice flushes excess toxins from your body, restoring your body with great nutrition. You’ll feel energized and more alert in no time. Juicing is especially good for those who don’t like to eat fresh produce, as well as picky eaters like small children.

Learn how to combine specific foods and flavorings to produce delectable drinks that everyone will enjoy. They may not even know it’s healthy. That’s our secret.

Ha! This line: “you might lose weight but will end up being super hangry and end up eating your arm off. No bueno” hits the nail on the head. Agreed, this is why I do not promote juicing fasts. But adding healthy smoothies or juices to your regular diet? Go for it! Great article with some great information!

I’m a HUGE fan of juicing. I started with half veggies/half fruit. Now, I’m mostly a green veggie juicer. I add horseradish at the end and pretend it’s my morning bloody mary cocktail. My skin looks awesome and my body feels great. I totally believe in the power of juicing for extra vitamins and vitality.

That’s so good to hear! I know there are many benefits of juicing and I love hearing that one of them is beautiful skin! I do notice that when I eat more fruits and veggies in general my skin looks better. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

We got a Nutri Bullet for Christmas not this past year but the year before. We got on a short-lived “health kick” and were making our own smoothies there for a while. I have to admit I have not tried juicing yet, although I also haven’t looked into whether the Nurti Bullet is the best way to go for that. I do know some of the veggies we made smoothies with were so very healthy for us, so now after reading this I’m annoyed that we let it fall to the wayside so badly. 😉

For juicing you actually need a juicer, which is a separate machine that squeezes all the juice out of your fruits and veggies. I don’t have one since I actually have access to juice at work (and lack of counter space right now), but I think it’s worth looking into!

Otherwise if just blending up fruits and veggies helps you get more into your day..do that! I LOVE smoothies! I have some recipes here if you are interested! –> http://www.semihealthyblog.com/category/food/smoothie

I think I like food too much to try juicing. Plus, it’s harder to spread peanut butter on it. 😉

Well I’m not talking juice fasting. I’m talking having juice with a meal a couple of times a week. 😉
