Hello again everyone!
Just got this post e-mailed to me from Mama Sue. As usual, I love her writing..so fun and honest! I also agree with her that exercise can come in many forms…just get up and move!
{“Exercise Alternatives” by Mama Sue
I almost entitled this, “Eighty-three degrees and a 95% chance of sweat”. It is October, but it feels like summer! If it weren’t for the breeze today it would have been rather miserable. I am not a heat-loving person; I turned my air conditioner on earlier this week so I could at least sleep well. If I could exercise without sweating, I would do that!
But with the weather bound to turn cold within the next few weeks, it’s time to get a few things done around the house. This week I am decrappifying my basement. Throwing out all the old junk is very cathartic; not only am I seeing the basement floor again, but lifting broken chairs and decrepit pieces of furniture offers a pretty good workout. Carrying bulky items out to the dumpster I have rented and lifting it over the five-foot-high sides, well, I worked up a sweat pretty fast. The cats are a little distraught, as I have inadvertently removed some of their favorite hiding places. But they were quite fascinated by the basement door being open for a while and I do believe they enjoyed the fresh air!
A couple of weeks ago I did a massive reorganization in my bedroom closet. Clothes I haven’t worn, clothes that don’t fit well, clothes that are so outdated that I had to laugh; what was I thinking?!? But I had a little music on and while I worked up a sweat, it was kinda fun. There may have been singing and a little “dancing“; the dogs are sworn to secrecy and the cats, well, they were oblivious to anything beyond their soft, cozy beds. The Salvation Army got a few boxes of clothing out of the deal, but I got the best end of the bargain: My closet looks fabulous and I can find things again.
If Kirstie Alley can lose 100 pounds dancing…why can’t you? |
Just about any physical activity can be a workout: mowing the lawn, laundry, housework, dishes. It’s all in what you make of it. Throw on some music and a few dance moves…no one has to know…and you have a fun alternative to the average workout. Enjoy!}
