Mama Sue and I |
Then Monday…well, I was a little out of sorts and just didn’t have the strength to do it.
But today…today I knew it had to be done.
I pulled out the ancient relic that spent many years at my mother’s house, until she upgraded to the new electronic model. Heh. Not for me! This will work just fine. And having worked up my resolve, I stepped on it. And the numbers twirled around and I felt a wee bit nauseous until I saw the numbers through the rusty little window: 201. I lost four pounds!
You know how you have to go to the doctor and they are going to weigh you and you *dread* it because you are sure you’ve gained a few pounds and you decide on the drive there which flavor of Ben and Jerry’s you will pig out on to console yourself with afterwards? No? Just me? *sigh*
Well, today was nothing like that at all. Sure, I toyed with the thought that I may have gained a couple of pounds, just to prepare myself, but I could tell by the way my jeans fit that I hadn’t gained, surely I have lost weight. What if it’s only 2 pounds? What if it’s 10? While my mind buzzed with myriad ideas of what might happen, my body took control and just did it. I was on the scale before I could even decide how to celebrate/reprimand myself.
Today I took a brief nap because I work tonight, and when I got up I decided that the weather is perfect (temp in the 70s!) to walk the dogs. I let the dogs out of their kennels, Duke first for once, then Badger. But I noticed…hey…something’s missing! Badger is NAKED! Where’s his collar? I rummaged through his bedding and found the remains of his collar with the dog tags still attached. He had eaten about one-half to three-fourths of his collar. “Take that!” I can almost hear him say. (Can’t wait to tell my daughter because it was *her* idea to put the funnel on the dog in the first place. Badger licks his paws, a nervous habit he has, so she put one of those funnel-shaped things on him, which attaches to the collar. And once Duke had pulled it off of him once, Badger realized he could probably do it himself and did so. He’s a little slow figuring out things for himself.)
This is Duke. He was rescued from the local pet shelter. Mom has a huge heart for adopting pets so she currently has 4 cats, 2 dogs, and a bird! |
Also did yard work over the weekend. Scheduling and the heat index have kept me out of the yard for a couple of weeks and the grass is, well, let’s just say it hasn’t quite gone to seed yet. I spent two hours mowing and moving bricks around and generally cleaning up. And it was a pretty good workout.
It seems I am feeling more energetic lately’ maybe just because I have been moving around a little more than usual? The summer was blazing hot and maybe that was a good excuse to be lazy. I don’t know. But with cooler weather making an appearance, I am MOTIVATED to get out there and walk! How about you!?}
- Walking the dogs for 30 minutes
- Walking to lil sis’ school
- Yard work
- Eating a little healthier (she will explain more later)
3. She is motivated. When our mind is in it, our body can follow suit. When we believe we can do something, no matter how corny it sounds, our body is more likely to respond and help us achieve what is in our brains. Power of a positive mental attitude. Or PMA. Do you have a PMA about your goals?
