It’s the first week of January, so let’s review the best recipes of 2015, shall we?
Until we find our own home, I dream of the day when I can finally have my own kitchen again to get all messy and experiment with different recipes!! And to invite friends over. And to just have someone to cook for again!
Only having myself to feed most of the time = lots of snacky meals. I shouldn’t complain, but I do feel bad for you guys because I haven’t been bringing as many new recipes to the blog lately. #fail
How about we round up some of the best recipes from 2015 in the meantime? Will that make up for the lack of foodie-ness around these here parts?
10 Best Recipes of 2015 [ Reader’s Choice ]
These were the top posts as picked by YOU, the reader. By way of pageviews. So possibly it was really Pinterest or Google who chose the top recipes, but that doesn’t sound as fun. Maybe next year we will have a vote or something?
DSHN’s best recipes of 2015 aren’t even all from this year, by the way. Another blogger Lee from Fit Foodie Finds pointed out that she’s noticed some recipes take awhile to marinate. It’s kind of fun to see old posts doing awesome because it’s like all of the hard work I do as a blogger doesn’t all disappear the next day.
1. Raspberry Homemade Fruit Roll-Ups with Frozen Fruit (2015)
These were so fun to make, but I haven’t made them since I’ve been living at the Daddio’s house! This needs to happen again and with a variety of flavors. And the photos turned out pretty as was evidenced by being shared on Pinterest 2.5k times as of today!
2. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Protein Balls (2015)
I need to make these again ASAP. They are so easy and satisfy my cookie dough craving without as much sugar (and with added protein!).
3. Snickerdoodle Cashew Nut Butter (2014)
Something I am adding to my list of home things to buy is a new food processor for whipping up all the homemade nut butters my brain can think up. One of my favorites is conveniently this snickerdoodle cashew butter.
4. Rice A Roni 3 Ways (2012)
This is hilarious to me since I kind of cringe at the photos. I think it must show up high on Google searches or something? Rice A Roni is good stuff though. Did you know you cook the vermicelli pasta first without water?? Crazy. I also remember this specific recipe because like 5 days later a bigger blogger friend did a Rice-A-Roni recipe and I didn’t sleep that night because I was so mad I didn’t get credit for the idea. The joy of being a blogger!
5. Pumpkin Spice Latte Protein Shake (2014)
Another photo cringe-worthy recipe that I sort of remade this year by way of the Pumpkin Pie Latte Protein Shake. I think it might be popular because of the part of the name involving “pumpkin spice latte.” You know, the latte that all the white girls (including me) go bonkers over in the fall?
6. Mini Chicken Pesto Pizzas (2015)
This recipe is one of my personal favorites but one that I haven’t made since. I have no idea why…all I really need to do is grab some chicken, pesto, peppers and cheese! I think I’ve been wanting to make my own pesto to do it again…man that new food processor and kitchen would come in handy for that! It also made its way into my top 6 recipe ebook you receive when you sign up for the DSHN mailing list.
7. Lemon Snickerdoodle Funfetti Cookies (2015)
These cookies make me happy. I never really considered myself a lemon person until experimenting with lemon cookies. I would turn my nose up at lemon bars, lemon pie, all that jazz. I made some whole wheat lemon snickerdoodle cookies a few years back and they changed everything. I get very dramatic when it comes to cookies.
8. Honey Roasted Almond Butter (2015)
Not only do the photos in this post make me drool (and make me super proud), but this was also when we announced we were moving back to Nebraska. I can’t believe it’s been 6 months already!! This was probably the last recipe I made before packing up all of our crap to move out of our place in Minnesota. I don’t really miss the winters there, but I really miss the people. It’s kind of crazy how much this blog has been a part of my life when looking back on posts like this.
9. Thin Mint Cookie Bar Recipe (2014)
This was actually a blog post from a sweet blog friend who doesn’t even blog anymore. I remember I had her guest post as I was studying for the NASM personal training certification.
10. Frozen Strawberry Protein Frappuccino (2014)
This combination still makes my mouth water. Frozen strawberries (like frozen bananas) add a delicious natural sweetness and great texture to smoothies. This was back when I had first discovered Skoop protein. I still use it (and sell it) today!

What was your favorite recipe this year?
Kaylin@EnticingHealthyEating
Well, I’ll be looking at recipes numbers 1 and 2…they both sound so good. They all sound good, but these two in particular I do not remember from the past year on your blog so I’m headed to check them out! Those cookie dough bites sound like something I need in my life ASAP

Those fruit roll ups look awesome, and I’m loving the wide variety of yummy things in your choc chip balls. I need to make those ASAP

The fruit roll-ups are probably one of my proudest accomplishments. Relatively simple but a huge wow factor! 🙂
