Well it’s been almost two weeks since I was at Blend Retreat 2014 in Park City, Utah (can you believe it??). I went through and recapped all of the lovely restaurants we dined at in both Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah, but I wanted to share with you some of the fun fitness activities I participated in.
[For those of you who donβt know, Blend Retreat is a blogging retreat where bloggers who have likely been blog-stalking Lindsay, Janetha and/or Lauren (the lovely hosts this year) can come together and meet in person. (HUGE thanks to these ladies for making this whole weekend possible! I am so grateful for all of their hard work!)]
I was smart and didn’t over-exert myself this year (even last year when I tried so hard not to, I was still overly sore) at the activities.
Not only did I have to consider the fact that we were walking a lot over the weekend (my fitbit numbers were pretty amazing..12-14k per day), but even climbing the stairs I felt like I was gasping for air due to the high elevation.
Walking in Salt Lake City
Like I said, we walked a whole lot outside of the official fitness activities. I arrived on Thursday and stayed with some gals in Salt Lake City where we were able to walk downtown and get a tour of Temple Square led by the lovely Alyssa who herself is a local and part of the Mormon faith.
On Sunday the Julies and I walked all around Salt Lake City when everything was closed. (The Mormon church owns everything so most stores are closed Sundays. womp womp.)
[French Julie and I Saturday night]
[Twin Julie and I Friday night cocktail hour]
At least we got to walk by the park where the Gay Pride festival was being held. I do love me some people watching and I will admit that my heart was warmed every time I saw a same-sex couple walking around (in Utah, mind you) holding hands. Warm fuzzies all over.
Running in Park City
Yeah I didn’t really run in Park City, but I did walk with a group of ladies during the fun run with Oiselle. I knew that if I was having a hard time with the stairs that running would be questionable.
[Above photo from Miss Heather]
Let me tell you, Oiselle was one of my favorite sponsors partly because the reps they sent were amazing women (have you met Jenae slash hungryrunnergirl? So stinkin’ adorable and sweet. ) AND their clothing line is made specifically for women.
They even have shorts with pockets that zip-up. (Seriously, why don’t all women’s shorts/pants have pockets??) We all got super cute Oiselle shirts with our swag bags
Bootcamping in Park City
I decided to join in the Saturday bootcamp with Onnit.
I really enjoyed starting out with some yoga stretches before jumping into the workout, but I did give the leader a sideways look when he brought up for the third time (once DURING, once on Instagram and during the bootcamp) the fact that we had pizza the night before and needed to work it off. I enjoyed the bootcamp too and modified a ton. I decided to do a whole post on modifications during group fitness, in fact! (stay tuned! I will link here when it’s done!)
Hiking in Park City
If you’ve never been hiking in Park City, I suggest you book your trip ASAP.
[Katie, Me, Mollie, Alex, Alyssa]
The views were absolutely gorgeous and the weather was just delicious.
[Me and Miss Heather]
The company wasn’t too shabby either. π
We had the opportunity to take the gondola (or a slower version of a roller coaster in my opinion) way up into the mountains and hike back down.
[Laura, Katie (whom I stole this photo from), and I on the gondola]
The views just gave me such peace. It’s hard to describe.
Special shout out to Balance Bar who saved me during the hike. I didn’t know the snack provided would be milk, so I begged the lovely Ericka who was sponsored by Balance Bar to let me have her only bar she brought on the hike.
Yoga-ing in Park City
We even got our yoga on after getting all showered, cleaned up and refueled with a smoothie from Arctic Zero.
[From Miss Heather again]
[yoga instructor Kait and I]
The stretching was very necessary for me, although I forgot to bring a hair tie. Have you ever tried to do yoga with your hair falling in your face every 10 seconds? A little challenging, but relaxing nonetheless.
After having read all of this…is it any wonder I slept through bootcamp on Sunday?
[Please note the photos with lindsayslist.co on them were graciously taken by Lindsay’s hubby.]
Tell me….
Have you ever been hiking in the mountains? Where at?
What is the best bootcamp you’ve ever done?

I didn’t even notice the fitness guy mention working off last night’s pizza. It’s amazing how clueless I can be sometimes, but I like my little world just fine. Less drama that way.
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
haha I certainly wouldn’t call you clueless! I’m sure I just picked up on it because the first time it was kind of shocking he said it while we were getting pizza and then all of us suitemates were laughing at his IG post in the morning.
PS I just remembered we were supposed to be workout buddies but I think you would have kicked my butt!

I love hiking in the mountains! I’ve hiked in Lander, Wyoming and Grand Junction, Colorado. Sort of mountainy anyway. Also in Grand Marais, MN if you would consider that a mountain. Being from somewhere so flat, I consider some large hills to be mountains! π
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
hahaha I also consider large hills mountains! I haven’t been hiking in Colorado for a couple of years, but that’s where Blend Retreat is next year!! You should come!!
