Lately I’ve been walking around a campus fillled with thousands of teens and young twenty-year olds. I don’t know a lot of people yet, so what do I do with my time walking to and from classes? People watch of course!
I’ve noticed all kinds of college student trends including the tennis shoe with long black socks and shorts look (both dudes and gals sport this) as well as the messy bun right on top of the head for the “just rolled out of bed” look.
That’s all fine and dandy. I myself usually roll into class in my gym clothes. I’m especially rough right when I get to my aerobic cross-training class first thing in the morning. That’s what college is all about right? It’s all about the learning. Okay let’s learn.
You have to wear pants to school. Or shorts. But mostly I think we need to go over what qualifies as pants, so please review the handy-dandy chart that will help us all out. [I pinned this pants chart to my “LOL What the What?” pinterest board, so please pin from there. :)]
I will no doubt find at least a few girls each day with this issue. Monday seemed especially bad since it’s been a little chilly and more people were covering their legs (or attempting to). My inner dialogue (which is constantly going..I’m either singing in my head or talking to myself in my head..anyone else?) was saying as I walked to class, “You’re not wearing pants.” “Those aren’t pants.” “Good job, that’s how you wear leggings.”
There is a way to wear leggings or the tight sports pants–either you wear a long shirt covering your booty or you wear the tight sports pants when you are working out and NOT performing any moves where you bend over in front of people. This is just common courtesy folks.
Sassy pants are acceptable pants 😉 |
I think I will let the university know the new dress-code policy and give them a copy of that awesome chart:
No shoes. No pants. No class.
You’ve now been informed! No excuses! 😉
What do you guys think?
Are you guilty of walking around pants-less?

Only at home! Big bonus to living alone… lol. When I go out, of course! I haven’t worn leggings since jr high and I don’t understand why people walk around thinking everyone wants to see their business. I certainly do not. It is worse when people show up to work dressed badly… we have a pretty casual dress code (except we can’t wear jeans unless it’s a special day) and coworkers have still been sent home for not being up to code.

Exactly!! Wear appropriate clothes people!

haha. I never wore pants. i wore sweats and jammies most of my college career, until i realized that allowed me to gain a bunch of weight. so then i swapped for jeans. it’s funny because i remember everybody wearing jammies/sweats when i was in college, but nobody does it now!
i’m having the same reaction as you, except I feel really old because I am staff.

Okay pjs and sweat pants are totally fine to wear to school. But leggings are not pants!! You can wear the with a long shirt but not in place of normal pants lol!
Also, at least you are staff and aren’t a student who is older than all of her TAs. 😉

Hahaha, not gonna lie … I pass off black leggings as pants a lot more often than I should. They are just so comfy!

Haha I love how you wore them the day you made this comment after reading this post. To your credit, you have no fat and that is a rarity for those who wear them as pants. 😉
