[W.I.A.W.] What. I. Ate. Wednesday.
Never heard of WIAW?
I got the idea from the lovely Jenn at Peas and Crayons and link up to her posts each week. This uber-creative gal also inspired me to be more fun with my photos on my blog, thus the photo collages.
What I do
I (try to) take photographs of each item of food I eat and each item I drink for an entire day (doesn’t have to be Wednesday, Wednesday is just the day we share). (Taking photos of all of the food I consume is no easy task…I applaud those who do this on a regular basis.) Then I try to evaluate how well I ate or what areas could use some improvements.
I’ve also been doing posts that sum up what I’ve been eating lately. The point is to have a variety of foods, not just a recipe or one food item. 🙂

Why would you care what I ate?
I’m not vain enough to think that everyone will care, however this can give you some ideas for food for yourself as well as a way to space meals out. There is a thought process out there that those who are “skinny” eat very little food or restrict calories or fat or sweets.
I would like for people to see that this does not have to be the case! I believe a large part of the reason I am the small size that I am is that I allow myself indulgences AND I make sure to listen to my body when I am hungry. Skipping meals is not for me.

Basically, I am at a healthy weight and this is how I eat!
2015 SHN Eats
After these WIAW posts, I transitioned into doing SHN Eats posts where I would share a group of foods. The technical rule to Jenn’s WIAW posts (the creator of the popular food link-up) is to share one full day of eats. Not only is it tough to take photos of the food I eat in one single day (I would forget if I had a handful of trail mix or a random banana), one day’s worth of food often doesn’t show the full picture of my nutrition/health.

I don’t want anyone looking at my day’s worth of food thinking, “I need to eat exactly that to look like Amanda looks.” It doesn’t show what I ate the day before, it doesn’t show how my hormones are, it doesn’t show my metabolism or exercise habits…it just doesn’t show the full picture. So, unless I’m willing to photograph a full week’s worth of eats, record my moods, feelings, sleep, hormones and workouts as well…I don’t think I will partake in a full day’s worth of WIAW anymore. Make sense?
