Cookie Month Link-Up [ #cookiemonth2015 ]

December 18, 2015 by Amanda R DeWitt

It’s December, which means cookie month. I feel like this is a universal thing, so I’m not sure I need to explain…it’s just that time of the year when we all put on our aprons and get to baking desserts in the kitchen.

And what is the best dessert ever? The cookie.

Cookies are my favorite.

Plain and simple. My favorite dessert to eat and to make.

I’m pretty sure my Mama Sue has something to do with my cookie obsession. We didn’t always have a lot of traditional home cooking because Mama Sue was a busy single mom of four (thus, I never really learned how to cook), BUT she knows how to bake. She made her famous chocolate chip cookies regularly and even won cookie making contests using her “Susie’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies” recipe. I think that was the first recipe I ever memorized. I even made my very own chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Us kids would whip up cookies ourselves on Christmas vacation (or whenever we possibly could). I even remember an instance when we had decided to start making cookies, but didn’t have eggs. I walked about a mile both ways to my best friend’s house to get eggs to borrow which I then put in an empty cottage cheese container (you know, DeWitt household tupperware), carefully padded with paper towels inside. I mean I couldn’t drive at the time so this made the most sense. And we really wanted to make those chocolate chip cookies. Winking smile

Basically, I hold cookies near and dear to my heart. I will take any excuse to create a new cookie recipe or to highlight the delicious treat.
