My good friend Katie from 50 States in a Year (read her first guest post about it here), has some updates to share with us about her amazing charity project! They’ve actually changed their charity to partner with Sweat Angels, so they have the opportunity to work with a new charity each month but are still hosting events at Crossfit boxes across the US.
If you’ve been following me on social media, you might already know I’m currently hanging out in Nebraska because I just completed my second ever half-marathon! Woot!
In the frenzy of packing for the trip, I didn’t pack my laptop charger which makes it a little tricky to blog. Of course the charger has to be specially ordered and we won’t be back home for about 3 weeks.
Thankfully, one of my best blogging friends wrote up a guest post for me while I wait for my charger to arrive in the mail! (I actually talked about her in my last Inspire Me Monday post!)
This gal is crazy inspiring and is dedicating a whole year of her life to a project she believes in. And it’s doing pretty freaking well. I love following their story via Instagram, so you should probably check them out there after you’re done reading.

50 States in a Year Project: 6 Month Update
Hi Everyone! Katie from Talk Less, Say More here! Several months back Amanda let me share my 50 States In A Year project with you all and would you believe that we’re already half way through?
We’ve been on the road for 6 months now and raised over $18,000 for various charities!!
That’s INSANE! We’ve helped feed hungry families, get toys for children in the hospital with cancer, get winter coats for those in need, get glasses for children in need, rescue animals from kill shelters, get therapy for children with Autism and now we’re helping Nepali earthquake victims get emergency shelter. I’m so honored that we’ve been able to help so many people and I can’t wait to see what other amazing causes we’ll be supporting over the next several months!
(note from Amanda: see how much they’ve raised so far here!) At the same time, we’ve had some amazing adventures…like that time we got locked out of the RV while baking some paleo cookies for the holiday party we were attending that night and trying to fit Sam through the only open window. She didn’t fit…those hips don’t lie! ha!
Or when our brakes blew while driving down the mountain from Lake Tahoe heading to an event…thankfully we made it safely to the bottom. Or that time we were driving from California to Iowa for Alex’s wedding (and to see Amanda too, of course!) only to get stuck in a giant blizzard in Wyoming. They shut down the highway for 2 days and we had no choice but to wait it out and hope to make it to Des Moines in time. We may have missed the wedding but we made it to the reception with time to freshen up quickly and get inside for the party!
It’s slightly alarming that most of our stories involve the RV we’ve so lovingly named Bullseye. He’s so sassy we even gave him his own Instagram account! If you’re reading this and have no idea what I’m talking about, I welcome you to check out our project! We may be half way through the year, but this is only the start of something big and the more this project grows, the more we can keep giving back! Thanks Amanda for letting me drop by again today. Let’s make sure we get some more coffee catch up time at Blend, okay? (<—note from Amanda: I’m so excited to be attending Blend Retreat again and we will definitely grab coffee!!)

Oh and of course I just found my laptop charger.
It may have gotten a little crazy packing for 3 weeks which included a half-marathon, a wedding, a trip to Colorado and more, so I shoved it in a box I totally forgot about. I suppose I will have a back-up charger now since the it is already on it’s way. Ha!
I will see you later this week with a yummy recipe, a sweet giveaway and mayyybe even a race recap!
