Happy Wednesday Friends!
This is why I can’t call myself “healthy.” (Can anyone?) I eat my veggies, but sometimes with chicken tenders. I have a healthy sandwich, but with chips. It’s my balance and it’s working so far…although maybe I will find out that I’ve only been fooling myself and that I’ve just had super high metabolism or something when I turn 30. We will see! π
I have been keeping track of calories and nutrients for my nutrition classes and my fitness class (I’m planning to review a few programs and apps on the blog soon in fact), and it’s not like I eat crazy amounts of calories or sugar (um not every day at least…I.love.cookies.). I think in general I just recognize when I need to be eating lots of veggies and lean proteins or when I can indulge. And I know I need to have dessert every day otherwise I will likely have a mini-binge session later.
Balance. This is what the blog is about. This is what I’m trying to convey to readers and friends. You don’t have to starve yourself or forbid yourself from eating certain foods. You also should recognize that eating fatty, processed, sugar-filled foods non-stop is not healthy, whether you’re at a healthy weight or not.
Am I doing a good job at educating readers? I sure hope so! I really want to help people! That’s why I’m dying a little bit in my Chemistry class so I can get through my Dietetics degree. π

Dave (the BF) was home for 5 days in a row! It was awesome. (Except for Sunday when he was sick all day…but I guess that gave me some time to do homework..)
I knew we were going out to dinner Friday, but I was pretty hungry when I got home, so I munched on some apple slices. I added some chocolate chips in the caramel I had from the Halloween get-together because it sounded really good.
We went to Chipolte because we were too impatient to wait 30 minutes for a table at Chilis (it’s okay, we went last night with some friends). When I’m hungry…I’m hungry.
I got a rice bowl, which is really filling and actually made almost three meals for me with chips on the side. Gotta love that as a poor college gal.
Then I wanted some chocolate so I was thinking we’d just go across the street to Walgreens for a candy bar or something…but Dave took me to a chocolate STORE called the Chocolate Factory at the mall. I was so excited because I didn’t know about this store because I don’t get out much and/or I don’t really like malls. Yep, a girl who doesn’t like malls.
It was fun picking out some yummy fudge and some chocolate covered cherries for his dad who just got his knee replaced (2.50 each! high quality chocolate apparently!).
Then I got lost…at a jewlery store…and the sales lady ended up dragging me in and sizing me for a ring. And I found the perfect ring ever. Maybe even better than the pinterest rings I’ve pinned onto my “Someday” board. Oops. π Hopefully this will be part of a more awesome story to tell at a later date!
Saturday I babysat some cuties and had a snack with them. Yes, I had to use the pig plate because it was adorable.
Saturday evening we had some hamburger helper with tons of vegetables and a side of vegetables.
Sunday Dave was sick and didn’t want to eat ANYTHING except for the saltines and water I was forcing into him, so I made myself some quick chicken tenders and sweet potato fries.
I also had leftover Chipolte a couple of times and of course my peanut butter toast every morning!
Pretty please note: this is not ALL I had to eat this weekend like in some of my past posts, but just a few high lights.
In other news…

What was the best thing you at this past weekend?
How do you keep “healthy?” Do you count calories, the way your clothes fit, make sure to get enough fruits and veggies, etc.
Do you have a favorite calorie counter/nutrition intake counter?

I totally agree with your views on being healthy – my definition of “healthy” definitely involves chocolate and treats. π
I love the rice bowl at Chipotle! I had it the one and only time I’ve been to Chipotle (we don’t have them in Canada) and it was amazing. Except I ate the whole thing in one sitting and I was majorly stuffed after haha.

Oh I didn’t know you lived in Canada! So sorry to show you Chipolte when you can’t eat it! π

Hmm the best thing I ate this past weekend would probably be some taco salad π I don’t really count calories as much as I count carbs – I am diabetic so I keep track of what I eat and my blood sugar readings. I am currently using an old fashioned notebook but I have used myfitnesspal.com as well. I have the app for my phone but I prefer to enter it online using a regular computer.

I’ve heard of that one and I think that’s one that Dave just downloaded to his phone. I will have to check that out! π
