I don’t know about you, but my weekend went by with a big whoosh!
Thursday night, late late at night, Dave (the BF)’s dear grandmother passed away. She was 99 years old and lived a long and feisty life. I only knew her from visiting her in the nursing home and she was pretty well medicated because as I said, she was a feisty lady. She tried breaking out of there on more than one occasion and once she even hit a lady with her cane. She was loved dearly though. From all of the stories I’ve heard, I really wish I had known her before she went into the nursing home.
Saturday morning was spent feverishly attempting to get Monday off from both of my jobs as the funeral was today and out of town. By about 2pm I finished the call with my wing-n-beer job where my boss let me know my shift was now covered. *sigh* Good thing because I was leaving town in a couple of hours and had all of my bags packed.
We did make a fun stop along the way to the farm (where Dave’s family is from).
We had the opportunity to meet with my former roomie, Sarah, and her husband, Sean, who are currently living in London, at a restaurant called Braeda!
You gotta have fries and ketchup every once in awhile! 🙂 |
(We found out it’s owned by Runza, a Nebraska fast-food restaurant by the fries! And the comment card lol)
the beautiful Sarah and I |
We haven’t seen them for a year and a half so it was great to be reunited!
Sean, Sarah, Me (not ready for pictures…lol) and Dave (BF) |
Sean is a talented violinist so they get to travel all over Europe for his concerts so it was fun hearing about their travels and how different it is overseas. For example, in London, most people automatically get 5 weeks of vacation and can take off a year when they have a baby. I know where I’m going when I’m ready to have kids!! I really hope we can visit them in Europe soon.
We got to the farm at about midnight on Saturday and it’s been busy ever since. Although it’s a sad reason to gather, it was nice to meet a part of the family I wasn’t acquainted with before. Dave and I also had some time to go for a hike around the farm and I also did a little run around the fields, but more on that later.
It’s time to head back to the city and back to the real world for a couple of days…before we come back for a wedding this weekend. I tell ya…life is crazy sometimes.
I hope you all are having a great Monday!
How was your weekend?
P.S. Have you signed up for my Gymboss giveaway??

Sorry to hear about your BF’s g-ma. She sounds like she lead a pretty awesome life. I love the pic you chose of her! My granny was pretty fiesty herself. 😉
PS I didn’t realize your BF was a member of the red-bearded man club too. Mark’s red … and salt and peppery. 😉

Thanks so much Calee!
I can’t wait to tell Dave about the bearded comment hahaha!
