This post is sponsored by CamelBak but of course my opinions are 110% my own!
Who here is a fan of CamelBak?
*raises both hands and jumps up and down*
I remember a couple of years back getting my first CamelBak water bottle. Pretty much everyone on campus had one so I bought a bright pink one and toted it around with me everywhere. I eventually realized I should probably wash it every once in awhile so I bought another one to use when I remembered to throw the first one in the dishwasher.
Well, CamelBak recently came out with its very own filtration system called the CamelBak Relay. I am in love with it.
It’s easy to use, it filters as fast as the water comes out of the faucet (seriously!!), it saves me money AND it comes in 3 colors.
I just so happened to get the color I would have chosen anyways at Blend Retreat this year.
Aqua=love!
Let me tell you, that sucker was tricky to fit into our bags, but we managed! It came down to taking it out of the box and also stuffing some clothes inside to make room. We wanted our CamelBak Relays!
Why I Use an at-home Filtration System:
Warning: math coming up!
When I lived with my dad and my last roomie (seemingly eons ago), I would buy 24 packs of water bottles so I could have water to take with me. It seemed like the easiest route and for 24 bottles I was only spending a few bucks. At the time, I reasoned this was better than buying a bottle from the vending machine at $1 a pop. I would still drink tap water at home because our water tasted fine and I know that tap water tends to have more fluorine (read= good for the teeth), but you just never know about the water situation when you’re on-the-go.
I probably spent $10 a month on bottled water (about 2 cases).
Fast-forward to moving here to Minnesota with my current roomie (and BF) Dave. He only wanted to drink filtered or bottled water and I knew that soon that water bottle bill would skyrocket to probably 3-4x what I was spending on my own.
Spending $30-$40 on bottled water each month seemed ridiculous, so we headed to Target to find a filtration system we could use instead.
We ended up purchasing a filter for about $35. The replacement filters are $17.99 for a 4 pack which was recommended we change every two months.
Over the course of a year we’d spend about $3 per month with our new filter (not including the pitcher since we’d have that a long time). Not too shabby!
I loved being able to save all of that money, but sometimes the pitcher was a bit of a pain.
Frustrations with our Old Pitcher:
- Have to remember to change it every 2 months
- Spilled all over the place because of the lid/spout
- Took awhile to filter
- Took up a lot of space
- The battery operated clock died (I may have put it in the dishwasher…details!)
Cool Stuff About the Camelbak Relay:
- Double filtration technology makes it doubly awesome:
- –Filters as fast as the faucet. Seriously. It might not seem like a big deal, but trust me. It’s awesome!
- –The CamelBack Relay is smaller but still holds the same number of cups as our old pitcher! It doesn’t need that reserve tank!
- You only have to change it once every 4 months. All you do is set a dial on top. Boom.
- Lifetime warranty.
- Diswasher friendly. (obviously essential)
- BPA safe.
- Did I mention it’s pretty? (it does come in black for those out there who don’t want aqua or purple.)
- Little over $2 per month in cost! $2.37 to be exact if you change it every 4 months!
This means I’m still saving money…even with all of those added benefits!
Things that Could Be Improved About the Camelbak Relay:
I was going to put the price in here, but it turns out, it’s cheaper than our old one when I did the math!! Woot! (the Relay is about $37 but it has a lifetime warranty!)
So..nothing that I can think of!

I have 2 of them as well because I need one while washing the other. My kiddos steal my water constantly so the 1L bottle would be awesome. Also, I’ve always thought of getting one of the insulated sleeves because I keep it really cold and end up with a lake everywhere I out the bottle down. Love this giveaway!!
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Seriously I’m curious about the insulated ones too! I just stretch out koozies to put on my CamelBaks. 🙂

I to this day carry my camelbak water bottle wherever I go!! I have a filter jug at home and it drives me crazy how slow it filters through! Literally ten minutes! I would love this for all of the water we drink!
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Thank you for saying that!! I used to get so annoyed and then think I was just being impatient, but it got to the point where Dave and I would kind of wait for the other person to refill it…because neither of us wanted to do it!! Good luck and thanks for entering! 🙂

I have a high school football player so a pitcher would work for us
Mollie @Sprinkles of Life
I love my relay! And you are so right that it’s so awesome that it filters just as quickly as the water comes out of the faucet. With my old Brita filter it took me forever just to get the darn thing filled because the filtration took so long.
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Yes exactly, Mollie! Anything that saves a few minutes is a winner in my book!
Katie Contests
I like the Groove Stainless .6L bottle!
Heidi K.
The eddy glass .7L water bottle would be my pick. What a neat design!
