This refreshing semi-healthy DIY coffee creamer with a hint of almond and cinnamon will have you forgetting the store bought creamer. DIY coffee creamer is my latest obsession to be honest.
You know the best thing ever? Eating breakfast outside.
After living in an apartment for 2 years where it took a good 5 minutes to set food outdoors…this is heaven on earth. Like something that makes you pull yourself out of bed after a long night when all you really have to do is answer to yourself for the day. I tend to be pretty motivated later in the day, but in the morning…that’s another story. (<- am I the only person that enjoys hitting the snooze button?)
So I look forward to breakfast outside in the morning. The earlier, the better during the summer. (ain’t nobody got time for a sunburn)
And what’s a luxurious breakfast outside without coffee?? That’s how I get the aforementioned motivation to take on the world (err..my keyboard and the internets). I take mine with cream..how about you?
I won’t say I’m against store bought creamer. I go through periods of obsessing over ones like pumpkin spice or Girl Scout’s Thin Mint creamer (oh em geee). But let’s face it—it’s probably a tad healthier to make your own at home.
So that’s what I’ve been doing! And it only takes a couple of minutes, which is a plus.
I’ve tinkered with this recipe a few times. The first one was with plain almond milk, the second with vanilla almond milk, and then I just that what it was missing was a little something. Cream.
Now I don’t know why I didn’t go with whole cream. Maybe I wanted to go somewhere in the middle of low calorie almond milk and full fat whipping cream. I know that nutrition experts these days are leaning towards full fat everything, but we use half and half at the café, so I suppose that’s what I’m used to.
Either way…I can tell you it tastes good! And doesn’t have any weird ingredients like the store bought ones.
Optional substitutions include: almond milk, whole whipping cream, regular milk..up to you. You do YOU.

Oh, I love this! And that jar, so pretty, I can’t find these in my country! I need to read this book….it feels good to read a celebrity book every now and then. Beautiful photos! Take care!

Store bought coffee creamers are pretty dang good but so bad for you! I love that you made your own here! I try to do my own too – using almond milk. I never thought to pump it up with extra almond extract. It never really tastes THAT almond-y. Thanks for the inspiration!

Yesss I think the almond extract gives it that little something extra. 🙂

Oh what a good idea! I am sure many of our meatless monday lovers will enjoy this! I am not a coffee drinker, but stuff like this makes me wish I was! Thanks for linking up, and for your kind words 🙂

haha non-coffee drinkers always baffle me. 😉 I was started young though by my coffee-addict mama so there was basically no choice for me.
Thanks for hosting the link-up!
