Let’s face it…for most of us, our pets are our family. And they tend to creep into our blogs…thus the recent Caturday installments.
Zoey has gone on car rides with us to visit family, we get a sitter for her when we are gone for more than a couple of days (thanks, Mellissa!) and she sometimes gets more of my attention than Dave does. (Sorry, Dave. You just need to be fluffier and cuter.) Since they are such a part of our family, why not pay special attention to their diet?
Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Clever Girls and Rachael Ray Nutrish. I was compensated for my time and blog space as well as given a bag of food for Zoey to try and her new favorite toy…a fish on a string, but as usual, all opinions are 110% mine.
Kittens are Whirling Dervishes of Fluffy cuteness
Little fluffy kittens tend to make messes everywhere they go. They jump on counters, scratch things they aren’t supposed to scratch (including Dave’s face when he gets too close), sit on the table when we are trying to eat, knock over liquids and get into foodie photo shoots. They commandeer every piece of furniture from the couch to the toilet. (Yes, there are mornings when I have to shove her off ask politely for her to get off of the toilet so I can relieve my bladder.)
They even consider every object conceivable as a toy…including laptop cords that you can’t find at Best Buy anymore. Those fluffy kittens can also have tummy issues that make smelly things come out of both ends—and I as a pet owner have to clean it up.
But they are so flipping cute you tend to forget all of the bad things. They snuggle their little way right into your heart.
Part of the Family
That’s exactly what Zoey has done.
We have even taken Miss Zoey Fluffy Butt on a couple of road trips. The first one we kept her in her carrier. I mean, we didn’t want to risk distracting the driver! The next one we let her out, but she had to sit in the lap of the non-driver otherwise…back in the carrier she went!
THEN last weekend we had to take separate trips back to Nebraska with no one to watch our little ball of fur and she sat right on my lap the whole time–mewing every time I stopped petting her for too long.
I’ve become THAT person who drives with her kitten in her lap!
Like a toddler in her terrible twos, she is both exhausting and adorable. And absolutely part of the family.
If that wasn’t enough…she also has her own Facebook, Instagram and Twitter account. She would appreciate more followers.
Rachael Ray Nutrish: Zero Grain Cat Food
I recently had the opportunity to let Zoey try out some new pet food called Zero Grain Cat Food made by Rachael Ray. Before owning a cat, I would have thought it was a bit much to be so concerned with her diet. I mean, she’s an animal, right? We are feeding her and housing her…shouldn’t that be enough?
Not for my fur baby. I want to give her the best food possible, or at least consider her nutrition an important facet of her life. Especially with how important I consider my own nutrition!
Cool Things about Rachael Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Cat Food

Zoey’s thoughts about Rachel Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Cat Food:
Zoey has MUCH more energy when eating this food. Which can be a good or bad thing.
Things to Consider about Rachel Ray Nutrish Zero Grain Cat Food
- You will want to slowly mix this formula in with your current pet food to get your kitty’s stomach used to it over a period of 5-10 days. (You should probably do this with all pet food.)
- The price is comparable to the stuff we usually buy, but it’s on the higher end of cat food prices (as far as I could tell).
It’s okay though, because I have a coupon for you!

You’re right–those adorable little fluffy balls ARE our family. 🙂 My mother and I only have 1 cat now, his name is Patch. But since my father passed away recently, my mother is highly considering getting another cat for her. Especially since I’m leaving to live with my fiance this Summer. Monday…we may have a new family member. We went to the shelter on Saturday and I fell in love with, oh, you know, ALL of the cats there. It’s hard to pick one! But I hope we can give a special cat a new, loving home. It’s been 14 years since we’ve had a new cat. I’m ready!

Oh man so sorry about your dad. Cats really do help keep you company! Zoey can be a stinker at times but nothing beats her fluffy cat snuggles! I hope you find a cat you love for your mom. <3 <3
