Morning friends!
Remember like two years ago when I did Monday Moves? Welp, we are bringing it back!
I’m also bringing back the awkward post-workout selfie..although hopefully not all quite this awkward. I mean I look like a freaking caricature. 😐
I received a lot of requests for fitness updates and workouts in the reader survey I did (you can still fill out the survey..I haven’t posted the results, but unfortunately the giveaway has ended), so I decided to attempt a weekly fitness post. This will hopefully include a weekly workout recap, thoughts from the week and/or a new fitness idea or workout.
Bear with me while I attempt to create some consistency because if you know me and this blog at all in the past couple of years…there hasn’t been a lot of consistent weekly posts. Possibly out of fear of commitment. Or just not wanting to stress too much over posting.
I know, I’m weird, but it used to stress me out so much needing to have posts up a certain number of times per week, certain posts on certain days..I lost a lot of sleep over it to be honest. Since I started freelancing and doing sponsored posts, that’s been enough due dates for this girl to handle.
Plus I’ve been focusing on making this blog pretty and more user-friendly in the past few months.
Overall, you guys are liking it so I’m happy all that hard work paid off!
And, you know, that cute little ball of fur that Dave and I adopted three weeks ago has really been keeping me busy!
So back to the fitness post!
Here are my moves from this past week:
^My dailymile.com stats.^
Monday: Steps: 11,704 Miles: 4.73
Workout that I found on pinterest and pinned here on my Fitness [Workouts] [Health] board.
I did 2-3 rounds…and was sore for about 4 days. It was pretty apparent I haven’t done a workout like this in quite some time!
Tuesday: Steps: 15,514 Miles: 6.27
Sore. Worked at the café. Suuuper busy.
Wednesday: Steps: 2,855 Miles: 1.15
Rest day.
Thursday: Steps: 12,242 Miles: 4.94
Still sore. Closed the café.
Friday: Steps: 8,413 Miles: 3.62
20 minute treadmill run before dinner with friends. Of course I procrastinated and didn’t run as long…but I got to watch part of What Not to Wear with the Amy Farrah Fowler (or Mayim Bailik) from Big Bang Theory.
Saturday: Steps: 6,792 Miles: 2.74
I got most of my steps in walking around St Paul for Crashed Ice. It was about 40 degrees warmer than last year which made it pretty amazing..aside from all the mud due to warm temps!
Sunday: Steps: 11,534 Miles: 4.0 (so far)
I ran a couple of miles on the treadmill then power walked while checking social media another mile and a half.
I followed with some free-weight balancing moves. Remind me to do a post on this.
Total fitbit steps: 69,054 Total fitbit miles: 27.45
Average fitbit steps: 9,864 Average fitbit miles: 3.92
Notes:
-I use a fitbit to track my steps and highly recommend it! Check out my review here.
-For fitbit steps on dailymile.com, I subtract 1.5 miles since this is about how much I walk on a low movement/rest day.

Thoughts on my workouts:
I’m starting to add more workouts into my routine aside from walking and like I said…it’s pretty apparent that some of my muscles need to be built up again. I also may or may not have signed up for a half-marathon and need to start training soon..more on that later!
I am suuuper happy I averaged about 10k steps a day since that was my goal!
Workouts Planned for this week:
None scheduled so far. I would work on them now, but I need to be up in about 4 hours. Woops.
PS Have you guys seen the awesome link-up DSHN is participating in? It’s called the Souper Bowl Soup + Chili Cook-Off and you should definitely check out all the recipes linked and add your own!
How have your workouts been lately?
Do you run outside in the snow?
Don’t Miss a Semi-Healthy Update!
PS I’m all about Pinterest this year, so I would LOVE IT if you could pin one (or two!) of these images!
Pin with me!

That workout looks fun! Sometimes I feel silly doing jumping moves when I’m at the gym haha but I might just have to try it out this week 🙂
And I can’t wait to hear about your half marathon plans – I’m currently trying to figure out a spring race to do myself so it would be great motivation to have a friend also in training mode. And don’t worry- I take lots of awkward workout selfies too 😛
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
I wish you lived closer so we could do jumping lunges together!! It’s also awkward in your apartment when you have people living below you so it’s weird either way I do it haha.
YES! Find a half and we can snapchat our training runs!! And see who has the weirdest outfit slash awkwardest selfie! 🙂
Catherine
Great to be starting the New Year with a healthy routine.
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Thanks! I always try, I just decided to start sharing about my workouts again! 🙂

i like to keep track of my steps too. instate it sad how few steps you get on a rest day 🙁 my weekdays are always high because i work in a school and move around a lot, but man they are low on the weekends.
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
I know it’s hard not to get sad about the low number days, but I just try to have my overall average 10k per day. We need rest days! 🙂

I’ll run in the snow but if there’s ice that’s a deal breaker. Yoga and running are my favorite workout combo right now.
Have a wonderful weekend Amanda!

Very true! The packed snow on my trail worries me though since it seems like part of it might be ice? I’m such a fraidy cat!!
Jessica @ kiwiyogirunner
Your blog is SO pretty!! You definitely nailed that! Great week of workouts 🙂 I’ve been waitressing to pay my way through postgrad and I ABSOLUTELY count that as part of my workout! I have never been sore like I am after waitressing before! 😮
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Ah thank you! I’ve worked so hard on making it pleasant to look at. 🙂
Yes waitressing involves tons of steps..I’m basically a waitress slash cashier slash cook at my cafe job! Getting paid to MOVE..woot!
Sarah Pie
I think I pinned that same workout… I might have even pinned it from you! Haven’t done it yet but it’s a start 😉 Glad to hear it’s a good one though
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
Yes you should definitely try it! Jumping lunges are killer!
