I think I have a slight addiction to my crock pot..what do you think? This may or may not be the third crock pot recipe in a row!
This is a slightly addicting savory, salty and semi-healthy snack mix you won’t be able to stop eating! This is a great snack to bring to any upcoming holiday gatherings that’s simple enough to make, but will impress your friends and family for sure!
Okay, you can probably stop eating if you have some will powder or use portion control (aka not eating straight out of the crock pot until you become painfully full), but I gotta sell the recipe, right?
Have I ever mentioned to you how imperfect I am? Well, despite what you may gather from any success-related social media posts or blog posts…sometimes it takes me a few tries to get a recipe right. Sometimes it takes me a few times to get general things in life right, but that’s a story for another time.
This recipe took a couple of tries but I assure you, making snack mix in a crock pot is super fun and fairly easy if you just learn from my mistakes. Plus things that are made in the crock pot take such a long time you can brag that you spent two whole hours making this tasty snack mix. You can even throw it back into the crock pot to keep it nice and toasty when you’re bringing it to a party. It’s all about tricking your friends into thinking you are a master chef, obviously. When all you’re really doing is bringing glorified Chex mix.
Tips for Perfectly Crisp Crock Pot Snack Mix:
1. Soggy snack mix is likely due to the condensation that forms on the lid and drips back down. This can be fixed by placing a towel under the lid and/or leaving a slight space where steam can escape. Or you can do both as I did on the second try.
2. Burnt snack mix was definitely because I didn’t stir it enough. Set a timer and stir once every 45 minutes. This is actually perfect for getting work done in a few chunks while the savory aroma fills your nostrils. Taste-testing can also happen at these intervals and is in fact encouraged. I also tried to really make it a one pot deal by melting the butter (I used butter the first time and I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter the second time) right into the crock pot which made it way too hot for the amount of time I cooked it.
3. Make sure to lay it out on a baking sheet to cool and dry further so it reaches its full delightfully crispy potential.

I love trying new things in the kitchen and this snack mix was definitely a new learning experience!
If you didn’t know already, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter is not butter, but a butter substitute. In my semi-healthy world I use this sparingly just as I do other things like sugar, butter and white flour. It still definitely makes a regular appearance in my kitchen..especially on toast! It tastes great and spreads so so easily for those of us with very little patience. I mean, have you ever tried spreading butter from the fridge on toast?
Plus it doesn’t contain any preservatives which we all know are quite the no-no for healthy foodies.
So whip up this tasty snack mix for your next holiday party and let everyone be impressed!Tell me….

Cute! What a crazy mix of flavors too!

haha it sounds crazy, but everything starts to take on the flavors in the glaze so it works! 😉

I think this is one of the most eclectic and unique snack mix recipes I’ve ever seen, but that’s why I like it so much! Way to be creative!
Amanda @ Diary of a Semi-Health Nut
haha thanks! It was mostly just using what I had and what sounded good at the time! Everything sort of takes on the flavor of the glaze so it works! 🙂 Of course you can put any snacky things you want in it!

I’m not one to make snack mixes, other than trail mixes, but my mom is always making the standard party snack mix. When she makes it during the holidays and runs out, I don’t know how she makes SO MUCH, she is always trying to make it in my kitchen when they stay here and I am cooking other things. I would have never thought to make it in a crockpot but I know where she will be making hers this holiday season!

I think it’s good to have a mix or snack like this otherwise I know at my family gatherings, we just start digging into the dessert or candy!
