If you follow me on Instagram, you already saw this bad boy coming. And by bad boy, I mean the pumpkin spice latte deliciocity that is this caffeinated smoothie. This caffeinated pumpkin spice protein drink is sure to give you the boost you need in the morning, after a workout and even makes a tasty afternoon snack.
I will note that having the word latte in the name of this shake is slightly setting off my barista snobbery because as you recall from my barista talk post, a latte is espresso and milk.
Not coffee and delicious Pumpkin Spice creamer.
Alas, for the sake of fun recipe names, I’m leaving latte in there. I bet no one cares besides me.
You know what no one else probably cares about but I’ve been obsessing over the past couple of days? The freaking share buttons on some of my posts are showing zero shares on Pinterest. Sure it will show all the shares on other social media, but the one that I’ve been working so. hard. on for the past couple of months doesn’t show up.
Have any other bloggers experienced that weirdness?
(Don’t worry, my cashew nut butter post still shows an impressive number. Seriously thank you guys for sharing that post like crazy! It helps that every time you look at it you start to salivate and go tearing through your kitchen to find some dang cashews..or is that just me?)
I even spent an hour looking for other plugins that would maybe show the real number for Pinterest, but for whatever reason…they still showed zero. Or 1 or something that I know it a false number. Boo. I guess I care so much because I was super proud seeing numbers rise over 100 in the Pinterest shares and now you won’t know how much of a Pinterest rockstar I’m becoming. (kidding but seriously) //end rant
Back to fun happy thoughts. And back to
Pumpkin Spice Latte Protein Shakes!
This recipe basically happened because I recently started flavoring my coffee with the delicious creamer that is Coffee Mate’s Pumpkin Spice Creamer.
Hello cheap coffee deliciousness in the comfort of my own home! Nothing against going to a coffee shop, but the cost of 1 k-cup plus a TBS of coffee creamer is nothing compared to a $5 cup of joe at the coffee shop. Right?
I mean if I could get Caribou to sponsor my life, I would be there on a daily basis gulping down whatever seasonal creation they could come up with…but for now—I mostly drink my joe at home.
Like I said in my last Frappuccino recipe post, when I work from home I tend to not drink all of my coffee and then use what’s left to blend up into a smoothie with Skoop vegan protein as a mid-morning or afternoon snack (depending on how the day goes).
This particular time I decided to take my coffee with pumpkin spice creamer and cinnamon, add some pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice before adding my Skoop protein powder and ice and blending it all up. The result was perfection in a mason jar.
Since it’s that time of year, why not put pumpkin in your blended coffee shake? Also please note the great nutritional stats on this pumpkin shake! Look at those vitamins! I recently switched around the way my recipes look on my recipe plugin so you can see all the nutritional facts. Well, as many as you would find on a regular label. Fun, right? #nutritionnerd

Fun fact: have you noticed that the mason jar in these photos doesn’t have a logo of any kind on it?
That’s because we swiped it when we were back in Nebraska from a local hole-in-the-wall bar that was sadly closing its doors. It was one of those bars that used the mason jars to drink soda out of before using mason jars for everything under the sun was cool. Dave’s family LOVED that bar and went there all. the. time. So much so that some of their best family friends were met because of that bar. Christmas parties, birthdays and game day celebrations were held at good ol’ Cappy’s.
It’s sad to see it close down, but the owner Phil said that after 25 years of running Cappy’s, he decided he wanted to get his degree. We closed down the bar on the last night it was open and asked a tearful Phil (the owner) if we could take a couple of glasses to remember the place.
Cheers to Cappy’s! And to new foodie photo props! 😉
Tell me….
Are you on board with pumpkin everything yet?
Do you have a favorite hole-in-the-wall bar? We are going to have to find a new one!
