Well here I am again, up into the wee hours of the night! Okay it’s not getting too crazy, but it’s midnight! I’m bound and determined to get this post finished right now so that I can focus on my freelancing and studying tomorrow!* It shouldn’t be too hard since I’ve been slowly working on it for..oh two weeks! But then again I think that every time I do a favorites post.

12 Healthy Recipes and 12 Healthy Food Bloggers by Lee at Fit Foodie Finds
Can you tell I have a slight blogger crush on this girl? Well, don’t you worry because she just gave me a few other amazing bloggers to stalk! I found some new favorites including: Olena from ifoodreal, Dana and John at Minimalist Baker, and Lexi from Lexi’s Clean Kitchen. These ones I wasn’t following and stuck out at me so I proceeded to stalk all of their social media accounts and follow them on bloglovin’.
That’s what you do, right? I’m new in this whole obsession about other bloggers/blogs thing. I have no idea why, but I used to view social media and reading other blogs a necessity (unless it had to do with my blends!). Now it’s fun. A light switch went off in my head or something. Maybe it was when I planned on being a better blogger friend in my New Year goals?

Want to Quit Blogging? Read This First! by Gala Darling
Interestingly enough** this blog’s tagline is “The Radical Self Love Project.” Also her writing makes me feel like a 5th grader turning in a “What I Did Over the Summer” paper. It is absolutely lovely; as is the photography. I obviously can’t quit blogging now because I must learn to make words and pictures like that!

How Lean is Too Lean by Your Trainer Paige
This one reminded me of a gal I saw at the gym the other day. She was very skinny, yet was talking about “hitting a plateau” and wanting to lose inches and pounds. How lean is too lean?
Women’s Difficulty with Pull-Ups is About More Than Biology
Meaning it’s partly mental too. A lot of women are afraid of “bulking up” (which doesn’t usually happen in the first place) because they don’t want to appear less feminine. I was just listening to a coworker talk about how she just wanted to be “toned” and I had to grit my teeth and not tell her, “well don’t work out if you’re afraid of growing muscles and getting strong.”
Favorite Music:
Oh and apparently you can pin YouTube clips to Pinterest…? I call this cross social media-ing. Or is YouTube even social media? Anyhow I’ve been listening to a lot of Josh Groban in the car since Dave left his CD in the player and I’m kind of hooked!

You will never look like that girl in the magazine, because the girl in the magazine doesn’t look like the girl in the magazine. โ Athletic Girls (@AthIeticGirI) January 10, 2014
A post that really caught my attention along this line:
You’d Be Shocked at What These Fashion Editors Are Editing Out Of Their Photos at the Huffington Post. Long title. Crazy post. These editors are editing out things like protruding ribs, hip bones, smearing out dark circles and filling out hair lines to disguise the fact that in general, very skinny does not mean healthy. Or even pretty.
Forcing your body to be smaller than it is meant to be obviously has some very adverse health effects that have to be covered up. These magazines include the likes of Cosmo, Vogue and even Self magazine who retouches photos “to make models look bigger and healthier.” Excuse me while I pick up my jaw from the floor.
This is yet another reason why there is no reason we should be aiming to look like models in magazines. Thankfully I have a platform to speak about this subject. I mean we all do, really. Some can share with friends in person or on Facebook, others have much [MUCH] bigger platforms than mine.
**But I have this little blog that I can use to try to make a difference. And try I will! I am planning something very exciting for the month of February involving love…loving yourself and loving others that is! I can’t wait to share more about it, but these couple of things made me ever the more thrilled and sure about my feelings on the subject of body love at least. PS I heard once that a writer should write drunk and edit sober….is overly tired the same thing as being drunk? I know it’s the same for when you’re driving, but what do we know about this rule in writing? ๐ *No I did not make my post deadline. I crawled into bed at 2am and out at 8am to finish it up! *sigh* It’s still gonna be a good day though! It’s Friday! ๐ Tell me… Have you watched Breaking Bad? Don’t tell me how it ends!! What’s the most inspiring thing you read this week?
