How about a little something called Friday Five. Where I string five random thoughts together about my life as of late and call it a post!
1. I found a new lake!
I know, in Minnesota of all places. (It’s the land of 10,000 lakes in case you didn’t know.) I finally went out for a run yesterday afternoon! It was unbelievably gorgeous at the lake. The weather was amazing and it was fun running with leaves crinkling underfoot. Then my allergies attacked me and I’ve had a itchy face and my nose has been so irritating I asked Dave if I could just cut it out. Worth it? Ish?
I really do love the outdoors and have a desire to be outdoors-y, but those dang allergies, I swear!
Remember my freaking out post where I was having issues with running? Well, this run I felt great after 3 miles and the pain in my leg didn’t start until mile 5. I went over 6 miles and could have gone longer so I am just going to pray that my body will be able to take me another 4 miles on Sunday for my 10-miler! ๐
My DailyMile also looks less sad since I’ve started working out at the gym I work at. I know, right? Figured that whole free membership should be put to good use.
2. Poor Dave has been under the weather too.
He works very hard so I was extremely surprised that he stayed home from work today. Not that he wasn’t working…he got phone calls all afternoon after I got home and was on his work laptop until dinner time, but still!
The night before when I hadn’t finished putting laundry away…out like a light! |
Poor guy. Must have been all that partying over the weekend. ๐
3. Speaking of this past weekend, Dave was the best man at Saturday night’s wedding, and guess what he caught at the reception?ย
(I am fairly certain the groom aimed. Not complaining.)
Good thing I have a whole Pinterest board full of ideas (including a certain bacon covered pineapple pin that is getting popular)!
4. Since it is now October, I am okay with the fact that it is fall.ย
Cue the pumpkin-flavored everything. Also, honeycrisp apples are my favorite. But mega expensive.
PS Make sure to follow my Fall Food Finds board on Pinterest for some tasty ideas!ย
5. I now drink my smoothies green.
ย I make them for a living and it’s kind of hard not to have a few gulps (every single time I work). I figure since I’m drinking a smoothie, I might as well add spinach, right? Seriously you cannot tell it’s there except for the green. I’ll admit, I was hoping this fad would pass and rolled my eyes at those who downed green concoctions daily….but they are actually quite tasty if you do it right.
This lovely number is a green pineapple mango smoothie: pineapple juice + pineapple + mango + protein powder + spinach.
Bonus:ย
The Chive commented on the goofy/snarky poem I wrote about the site. They didn’t really help matters when they added a link where I saw on the side bar a gaggle of half-dressed women under the headline “Tapiture.” It took me a minute, but I’m guessing it means ladies they want to “tap” or have sex with…not exactly helping yourself out there, The Chive.
We all know that the good things we do don’t cancel out the bad, right? Especially when we do them over and over again on purpose…?
Much love and have a great weekend friends! And don’t forget to pray for my legs at the TC 10-miler Sunday!!
Questions:
Where is your favorite place to run?
Do you have allergies?
Do you think a group of women is called a “gaggle?”

Strange But Good

I’ve been getting allergy shots for 4 years now and my seasonal allergies are gone!
And a smoothie is never complete without the greens!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
That’s awesome! I had allergy shots when I was younger but still have allergies so I’m a little skeptical haha.

Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl
I just started making green smoothies and I LOVE them!! I think they freak my co-workers out, but you are right..you totally can’t taste the spinach!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
haha I’m happy I work at a gym now because I’m sure any other crowd would look at me funny.

So jealous of your lakes!! It looks like you guys are having some pretty fall weather right now!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
I think the trees have a calendar because once it hit October, they started to change. So pretty!
And you live in Colorado…I’m jealous of your mountains! ๐

Good luck Sunday!!!
P.S. Where’s the strangeness?!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
lol I commented on your post that I always have such a hard time debating on whether certain things are strange or not…Dave thinks green smoothies are super weird, but in the “healthy living world” they are fairly normal…as evidenced by the fact that you had no idea there was anything strange in the post. ๐
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Also when I visited Dave’s family in small town Nebraska, one of his aunts asked me about the “different bread” I ate. I was super confused until I figured out that she thought whole wheat bread was abnormal and that I was on some sort of special diet. It’s all perspective. ๐

Thanks for linking up and sharing apples (not silly pumpkins) when talking about fall flavors. That’s a huge plus in my book.
I hope your man feels better soon.

haha pumpkins are everywhere now!! I’ll admit I bought a pumpkin pie pumpkin and will have some recipes for that on the blog soon…but apples are a fall favorite too! ๐

I’m SO glad you’re on the green smoothie train! Gotta love easy ways of getting in more veggies! And yay for getting your running groove back! Of course, I can’t see it being all that hard with a view like that! Hope Dave is feeling better…especially if he has a certain question he needs to start preparing for! ๐

haha I am showing Dave this comment! ๐
