I have now participated in 72 WIAW (What I Ate Wednesday) link-ups!
I wrote my very first WIAW post almost two whole years ago! My eyeballs nearly popped out of my head when I saw the amount of pageviews I got from linking up to Jenn’s link party.
What a Semi-Health Nut Eats at a Pizza Buffet |
I have to remember to do this again next week! I thought.
I soon discovered that it wasn’t just the pageviews that were astounding…it was the number of comments I was getting from people I’d never seen on my blog before. It was fun meeting new people and checking out what others were eating on a daily basis.
Also, the host of the link-up, Jenn (I might have spelled her name wrong for a year before she corrected me) from Peas and Crayons, is super sweet and hilarious, not to mention the fact that she is a genius in the kitchen and has a degree in dietetics (the degree I aspire to complete someday). She gets hundreds of people linking-up and still takes time to comment on posts and share link-love!
It was also around this time of discovering WIAW, that I became very happy I called myself a “semi-” health nut. There are some serious health nuts out there who eat nothing but green things and/or foods I’ve never even heard of that are presumably healthy. Then there was me who regularly ate macaroni and peanut butter toast…and dessert!
WIAW #15: A Chocolatey Day |
WIAW became one of the things that I participated in even when I was barely keeping the blog alive (most likely because a science class of some sort was sucking the life out of me).
At some point I got bored of telling myself the same things over and over and keeping track of everything I’d eat in one day. I decided to just take pictures of my food randomly throughout the week to get a general idea of some of the fun/yummy things I’ve been eating.
The thing is, even though participating in link-ups at times stresses me out, I can’t seem to stop myself from participating in this one. I love the community, I love checking in with myself to see what I’ve been eating lately and my readers seem to like it too. At least the numbers tell me they do!
I also learned all about online photo collages from Jenn. I’m tellin’ ya, WIAW changed my life.
WIAW #44: Happy Halloween |
I’ve rounded up some of my most popular WIAW posts according to the numbers. If you can tell me why these are the most popular, that would be great. It’s funny sometimes as a blogger, your favorite posts that you pour your heart and soul (and hours!) into aren’t always the most popular. These 4 posts are all in my top 10 pageviews of all time on my blog!
Okay this one was actually featured on the following week’s WIAW, so it makes sense that it’s one of the more popular ones. Note all of the diet dew in the fridge. Pure. Heaven.
And of course the one post Dave wrote is in the top 10. I think he needs to post again…what do you think?
Yeah this one makes sense too because…come on. Banana chobani cookies. The end.
I think it’s safe to assume that as long as the lovely Jenn keeps on hosting the party, I will keep linking up all of the food I put in my face.
Thanks Jenn for changing my life. Err my blogging life. Okay, there might not be a difference.
Do you participate in link-ups? What do you like or dislike about them?
Do you host a link-up? Why or why not?

72 – wow, you can really look back on a WIAW history already :).
In a way I have to agree that WIAW was “life-changing” to a certain degree for me, too. It has inspired me to get more creative in the kitchen, stopped me from skipping meals and connected me with many other bloggers.
Just having a little guess as to why Dave’s post is one of the most popular: The number of male (food) bloggers – or at least those participating in the daily-meal-posts – is still small so it’s a change from the usual.

haha right?? I really am so glad I discovered WIAW!
That is very true about male food bloggers…or really male bloggers in general, right? Or maybe I am only thinking of food and mommy bloggers haha

This is the sweetest post ever! I love Jenn too – and all the linker-uppers. I’ve learned a lot and been so inspired. And yes, Dave should do anoyher post. Man-food fascinates me. Maybe we should have a “eat like a man” day? LOL!

Oh gosh he would eat steak and potatos and corn and chocolate milk all day long but I think that’s more because his parents grew up on a farm. I don’t make any special meals for him when I cook but then again I guess I do try to disguise the veggies.
Maybe they eat so different because it’s not cool for dudes to be dainty…I wonder if I would eat like that if I could stay the same size and feel good? I’m probably thinking too deep about this haha

we have not done Jenns link WIAW yet, not really sure why, guess we keep forgetting haha

I think it would be fun to track your food for a day! I know you have done posts like that but specifically for the purpose of evaluating what you ate. ๐
