Welp moving is officially underway! Who here likes moving? Playing Tetris with all of your possessions in order to move the fewest number of boxes?
No? Even when you happen upon a ginormous chicken when you return the U-haul trailer?
This was for my friend Sarah |
For some reason I thought I could pack up my whole life in one day. And eat old food in the fridge. That resulted in a rough night in bed and having my dad help me finish packing Sunday morning. And since I was tired of packing, there are still random things lying around my apartment that need to find a box (or the trash can)…I need to get back there in the next two days to finish packing and CLEAN.
Meh that can wait until tomorrow.
Today is about chillaxing and fishing! Okay I won’t actually be fishing…but Dave, his adopted brother and his friend will be out fishing today and I get to feast on their spoils. Is “spoils” the right word? It doesn’t sound too good for eating…
Do you know what is good for eating, that doesn’t really make sense? Sprouted grains with a touch of sea salt. Ezekiel bread from Food For Life!
Check out the ingredients. Check out the texture!!
No sugar or weird flavorings or fats added….why does it taste SO. GOOD!?
What’s really interesting is that the idea for the bread comes from the bible. Ezekiel 4:9. The story is a little outdated, sure, and a tad confusing for a non-biblical scholar (and I am included in that mix of course), but basically the people of Jerusalem were to keep these selected grains to mix together to make bread that wouldn’t necessarily taste good, but excluded wheat, which was the grain of the rich.
UPDATE: Unfortunately they still add wheat so the bread is not gluten free like I originally thought. I was looking on the side panel where it said “gluten free” but that was sorting the bread into categories…not a description of all the products. Thanks Calee for catching that!!
I am giving away two of these delicious loaves to one lucky reader (in the US..sorry international readers!).
Since there are no preservatives in the bread, be sure to stick one loaf in the freezer and one in the fridge. I probably don’t need to tell you to eat the loaf in the fridge within two weeks and the one in the freezer within a month…because I had no problem doing it on my own!!
Peanut butter toast for breakfast or snacks or dinner…I got quite obsessed with this bread and may have done all three on one day! Check out my WIAW post for some more yummy bread pictures.
Now it’s your turn to try it!! Enter below! Everyone have a Marvelous Monday! 🙂
I had a marvelous Sunday with my cutie-pie nephew! I’m gonna miss this face when I move!!
Congratulations to Katie from Talk Less Say More! E-mail me, girlie!

It’s so hard to find GF bread that’s sturdy enough to make a panini.. so i think that’s what i’d make!
Guest
Just so you’re aware, it’s not gluten-free — just wanted to make sure before you buy it in case you’re celiac. If you’re gluten sensitive, it does digest a lot better (in my experience) than regular breads. It has to do with the sprouted grains.
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
So sorry, see update on the post!

If you’re celiac, definitely not a good idea to try this. But, it has been (in my experience) okay for gluten-sensitive people. It digests a lot better (in my experience) than regular breads. It has to do with the sprouted grains. I read that somewhere, and gave it a try.
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Oh goodness my face is bright red right now! I was looking at the side
panel on the site where it says “gluten free” but that was actually
sorting their breads into categories. Also that bible verse got me
excited thinking there wasn’t wheat in it. I might have thought
sprouted wheat made it gluten free…ugh I feel silly! 🙁

I would definitely toast it and top it with nut butter while it’s still warm so it gets all melty lol. Or jam and drizzled with melted coconut butter, mmmmm.

You’re aware this isn’t gluten free, right? The first ingredient is WHEAT, dear.

(not gluten free … in fact, there is wheat gluten in it).
HOWEVER, for those who are gluten sensitive, it does digest a ton better than regular bread. I actually switched to this bread a loooong time ago for that reason.
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Right you are. I am a goof. See update in post.
Thanks for catching that and sending a message about it…and for responding to the commenters. You are seriously awesome! <3

I do remember you saying you could eat it…maybe I had that in my head it was gluten free. Still…I put a friggin picture of the ingredients. So so stupid.

I’ve REALLY been wanting to try this bread, and I would no doubt top it with some peanut or almond butter (my obsessions!)

I’m gluten sensitive, so I usually do not eat bread in general. I’ve always heard good things about this bread, but I’m a cheapskate, so….yeah, haven’t tried it yet.
I would toast it and slather with Kerrygold butter (my favorite way to eat toast). So simple, so delicious. 🙂

Hahaha! Totally cracking up over Sarah’s comment! I’m sorry, but the rooster would go hungry because I would be eating each and every crumb of my toasted club sandwich! Not sure what it is, but the man-friend and I made sandwiches for dinner one day last weekend and I’ve been craving another ever since! lol
