{MIMM #20} Giveaway: Delicious Ezekiel Bread!

June 3, 2013 by Amanda R DeWitt

Hello Friends!

Welp moving is officially underway!  Who here likes moving?  Playing Tetris with all of your possessions in order to move the fewest number of boxes?

No?  Even when you happen upon a ginormous chicken when you return the U-haul trailer?

This was for my friend Sarah

For some reason I thought I could pack up my whole life in one day.  And eat old food in the fridge.  That resulted in a rough night in bed and having my dad help me finish packing Sunday morning.  And since I was tired of packing, there are still random things lying around my apartment that need to find a box (or the trash can)…I need to get back there in the next two days to finish packing and CLEAN.

Meh that can wait until tomorrow.

Today is about chillaxing and fishing!  Okay I won’t actually be fishing…but Dave, his adopted brother and his friend will be out fishing today and I get to feast on their spoils.  Is “spoils” the right word?  It doesn’t sound too good for eating…

Do you know what is good for eating, that doesn’t really make sense?  Sprouted grains with a touch of sea salt.  Ezekiel bread from Food For Life!

Check out the ingredients.  Check out the texture!!

No sugar or weird flavorings or fats added….why does it taste SO. GOOD!?

What’s really interesting is that the idea for the bread comes from the bible.  Ezekiel 4:9.  The story is a little outdated, sure, and a tad confusing for a non-biblical scholar (and I am included in that mix of course), but basically the people of Jerusalem were to keep these selected grains to mix together to make bread that wouldn’t necessarily taste good, but excluded wheat, which was the grain of the rich.

UPDATE: Unfortunately they still add wheat so the bread is not gluten free like I originally thought.  I was looking on the side panel where it said “gluten free” but that was sorting the bread into categories…not a description of all the products.  Thanks Calee for catching that!!

I am giving away two of these delicious loaves to one lucky reader (in the US..sorry international readers!).

Since there are no preservatives in the bread, be sure to stick one loaf in the freezer and one in the fridge.  I probably don’t need to tell you to eat the loaf in the fridge within two weeks and the one in the freezer within a month…because I had no problem doing it on my own!!

Peanut butter toast for breakfast or snacks or dinner…I got quite obsessed with this bread and may have done all three on one day!  Check out my WIAW post for some more yummy bread pictures.

Now it’s your turn to try it!!  Enter below!  Everyone have a Marvelous Monday! 🙂

I had a marvelous Sunday with my cutie-pie nephew!  I’m gonna miss this face when I move!!

      June 5, 2013 at 10:30 am

Just so you’re aware, it’s not gluten-free — just wanted to make sure before you buy it in case you’re celiac. If you’re gluten sensitive, it does digest a lot better (in my experience) than regular breads. It has to do with the sprouted grains.
