Sometimes it takes me a bit to recover from the weekend. Specifically the sleeping schedule. I stay up late Sunday evening getting things unpacked (when I go back home..like this weekend) and getting ready for the week…then it takes time to unwind and have my bedtime tea and cereal.
As a result, it took me about 45 minutes of snoozing this morning to actually crawl out of bed and turn the light on to get up,
Which can start the day off on a grumpy note…
Despite the fact that I’m not feeling super awesome and didn’t get up as early as I wanted to…there are still plenty of reasons to be happy and thankful for today.
It’s Monday BUT….
- I got a SNOW DAY last week!
Which means I got to sleep in, my Chemistry test got rescheduled (to tomorrow) so I’ve had more time to study, and I got to make some delicious pancakes.
I even let the roomie AND the BF try some and they are a hit! Now I just need to get around to sharing the recipe with you guys…
- I got to see my little nephew over the weekend!
Okay I guess I saw my sister Courtney too. 😉 |
He is stinkin’ cute and him and I “talked” for a good deal of time on Saturday. (I talked, he “talked” back. Melts my heart!)
- Dave drove this weekend so I didn’t have to spend any money on the trip to our hometown.
- Our washer is broken at our apartment, but I got to do laundry at the Daddio’s.
- Dave and I got to make food together. We used to do this all the time, but now that he travels a lot, it seems to be a rarity. We are pretty good.
- I ate mostly for free this weekend (we had breakfast with Mama Sue and sister Rachey, then dinner with Dave’s family Sunday) AND came back to the apartment able to stock the fridge full of leftovers and food Dave’s mom sent home with me. Including TWO boxes of Keurig cups. One being pumpkin…yum!
- Despite having some stomach issues yesterday afternoon and evening…I made it to the apartment gym to do my long-run! It wasn’t my best run, but I’m so glad I got those miles in so I don’t feel like I have to make up for them later. It’s week 9 of 18 for my half-marathon training…time to get serious!
- I found a great job-hunting resource on the university’s website (last night when I was going to be studying but suddenly panicked about finding a job)! I applied for one of the jobs and have many more potentials that I will check out later this week (after my Chemistry test fun is over).
- I got to borrow The Lorax from Dave. Cheesy kid movies make me happy every time! Dr. Seuss was one wise man!
- I also have some pretty pink flowers to look at! Courtesy of Mr. Dave (the BF).
What can you find positive about your Monday?
Are you training for a race? Do you ever stress about getting your long runs in?
Linking this MIMM (or Marvelous in my Monday) post up to the lovely Diva:

I had a lot of trouble getting up this morning too… but I was kind of happy about it because I am getting over a cold and for about two weeks I would wake up early and not be able to fall back asleep! The positive thing I find about today is that the weather is actually pretty nice… sunny and above freezing… however it’s supposed to get REAL snowy here tomorrow 🙁

Aw so sorry you have been sick Shari! That’s seriously the worst! Who has time to be sick!?
Hope you get to enjoy the nice weather! It’s looking a tad bit gloomy here lol

Let’s see …
I’m making a new recipe for dinner called Mexican Lasagna … Marvelous!
Which I have time to make because today’s a rest day following my long run of 6.4 miles yesterday (which yes, I stress about getting in, too!). I’m training for a half in April (which is suddenly seeming very, very close!).
Oh, and my favorite procrastination method in school was job hunting. Haha!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Oh nice! I didn’t know you were running a half!! Are you on dailymile?
I can find just about anything to do…including cleaning if it can keep me from Chemistry! 😉

Your nephew is getting so big!!! he’s so freaking cute. 🙂 And speaking of cute…you and Dave are adorable. I love how he bought you flowers.
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Babies grow so flippin fast!! I couldn’t believe how much he was “talking!”
And yes Dave likes to buy me flowers, but lately he’s been buying me ones I’m supposed to keep alive for long periods of time…I’m sorry to say I’m no horticulturist. If that’s a word. (But I still love the flowers!)

Cutie Patooty nephew pics! 🙂 That’s why I baby-sit…gets me a good baby fix. LOL Stressing over long runs..? Never. Okay, that’s a lie – this week’s is longer than I’ve ever run before, so I’m freaking out a little. Trying to figure a way to do it outside b/c 2.5hrs on the treadmill won’t be fun. We’re about halfway to the big day! Woot!! SO EXCITING!

I will run with you friend! Any time! 🙂
And yes I require baby snuggles when I go home. It’s tiding me over for now lol.

You are so good at finding positives every day. I’m impressed by your outlook.
I’m also really happy to find someone else who loves movies that are probably not age-appropriate. I really must see The Lorax, now that you’ve blogged about it so much. (And isn’t my unrequited and somewhat embarrassing love, Zac Efron, one of the voices???)
