I know some people get upset when favorites are picked…but in this situation, it’s a good thing!
I’ve been doing my Friday Five Foodie Finds for quite some time (check out my first one!). Since the blog was a little babe and didn’t know how to stand on it’s own, let alone walk. Or in this case, make up its own rules. I actually started these posts to participate in a link-up on Finding Joy in my Kitchen.
I’ve decided I want to change it up a little. Really there are quite a lot of things I’d like to high-light or remember each week, not only recipes from fellow bloggers.
So here it is. SHN (Semi-Health Nut) Favorites. It might not always come on a Friday, because I don’t want to force another weekly post out of myself right now. But it will hopefully come once a week. Hopefully. (Does my blog-commitment-phobia register at all today?)
Almond Oatcakes. I made these lovelies during my snow day yesterday. Recipe to come!

This is a great post that explains my thought process on eating, except Kath’s food looks way better. I love that she isn’t counting calories to get her baby weight off, but listening to her body. It’s funny because this particular blogger used to bug me at times because she was uber popular, but would write posts with one picture of food and a few sentences. I might start reading her more regularly again after reading this one.
I found this blog while doing a search for one of my nutrition classes. She is all about non-processed, whole foods and I love her no-nonesense writing. Add another one to the lengthy list!
Favorite Moment:
12am on Thursday when I realized classes were cancelled due to a much exaggerated snow storm…and what was going to be my third test of the week, my Chemistry test, was rescheduled!
I slept in, cleaned a little, made some pancakes…it was just what the doctor ordered!
Favorite Accomplishments:
- Getting to the gym on Wednesday and running like a rockstar.
- Finally finishing the post I have been working on and thinking about for a month.
- Making semi-healthy pancakes on my snow day. Recipe to come. 🙂
- Trudging through the snow to take out the recycling, which is two times further away then the dumpster. It seriously feels good to recycle though!
Favorite Tweet:
Okay, I don’t just like it because it’s promoting yesterday’s post about weight loss competitions, but it reminded me why I keep blogging. Sometimes that one post will impact someone. Plus it’s awesome to have such a great blogger support system!
Hope you all have a great weekend! Dave and I are going to make the trip to our hometown through the snowy streets…wish us luck! 🙂

How’s the weather in your area?
What would you do if you had a snow day?
Still linking up to Friday Favorites (unless I’m banned because of my non-food related links):

We are having some winter weather as well, though not as bad as they predicted… if I had a snow day I’d still be sleeping right now! I was surprised that Kath had so many readers as well when she posted the #s from her recent survey but then I realized she’s been posting for 5 years… and pretty much EVERY meal! It has pretty much been her job. Can’t wait for your pancakes post 🙂

Oh goodness I haven’t seen those numbers…they would probably discourage me lol! But posting every meal for 5 years is a great deal of work and I suppose she does deserve some credit. 😉
