Good morning my lovely bloggy friends!
It is very early and I am attempting to wake up to do my three mile run that I was suppposed to be doing yesterday, but Chemistry took over my life a little bit. We have our first test this week and apparently it’s the “easiest one all year” but people do the WORST on it. Like the class average is usually in the 55% range.
Yes, that is possible. I’m not the only one that’s slightly concerned seeing as the review session was so packed that a lot of people had to sit on the floor in the aisles of the auditorium room, frantically writing down any pearls of information they could hear…since they couldn’t see anything.
I still need to do an official explanation page of what TMT or Teach Me Tuesday really means, but basically I want to share information with people on these days. The original intent was to share my nutrition knowledge I’m learning in school, but I keep finding other things to write about such as:
Social Media Time Management (my fav so far)
Sleep Hacks
Meal Planning
Camera flash vs no flash + the Meaning of the Candy Cane
Originally I was going to do a link-up for this Tuesday series, but I don’t think people got it. Maybe some other time. 😉
While I wait for my sports energy beans to kick in, I’m gonna let you in on some Chobani Greek Yogurt baking and cooking secrets.
First of all, if you’ve never had Greek Yogurt, you need to know:
- the texture and taste is much different than that of regular yogurt
- it is thick, slightly tart and delicious; almost like eating icecream (or so I think)
- it is high in filling protein and lower in sugar than regular yogurt
- if you are lactose intolerant, this may work for you! My friend Katie and I are both able to eat Chobani Greek Yogurt with no stomach issues and we both have slight dairy intolerances
- you can bake with it substituting part or all of the fat/oil in recipes
- you can cook with it substituting the sour cream in a recipe
- it makes a great pre-workout snack with granola on top
- it is also a helpful and nutritious studying tool
Here is a conversion chart that Chobani sent me (that I added a couple things to).
I have personally used Chobani Greek Yogurt in cupcakes, substituting yogurt for all of the oil. I would probably go with the Chobani recommendation there since it turned out a little moist.
I’ve also added the goodness to cookies, substituting half of the butter for 1/4 cup of Vanilla CHO.
- 2 TBS chia seeds + 4 TBS warm water
- 1/4 cup vanilla Chobani
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 TBS ground flaxseed
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 bag mini chocolate chips
My roomie said she’s been eating these all weekend and loves them!
I definitely finished the last one this morning before my run. (Oh yeah, I paused the blogging and ran my three miles today! Woot!)
Also, check out the Banana Chobani Cookies I made the other day:
I have also added a little CHO to my hamburger helper when it asked for mayo (I know right), but you can also add a little zing with Chobani Greek Yogurt in place of sour cream.
Chobani Greek Yogurt is also amazing coupled with Naturebox granola.
I downed the rest of both last night while doing my Chemistry homework and I’m pretty sure it helped keep my brain from shutting down. Must. Try.
Best luck to you all!

Disclaimer: I received a few tubs of Chobani Greek Yogurt in exchange for experimenting with the good stuff in baking and cooking and sharing my thoughts. I will never write a good review unless I fully believe in the company and the product. I value my readership and my hobby too much to sell out!
I really want to try baking more with Chobani. I think making some kind of breakfast cookie would be good (eternally on the quest for more on-the-go breakfasts!). Hmm…or bread. I bet that would be good!
Ohhh breakfast cookie! I’m sure you could tweak the nanner one? I might try that this weekend!

I’d make curry. And maybe scones!

Can I still enter the giveaway despite receiving my own shipment? ha! You know I’ll eat it straight up, do some baking (I have ideas floating around…shhh!) and add some to my tacos! YUM!
P.S. I have a slight correction…I’m rather severely lactose intolerant. Two bites of cottage cheese (“lactose free” cottage cheese mind you) and I had quite the sad tummy last night. 🙁
So weird how different stomachs work! Sorry girl. 🙁
And OF COURSE you can enter!
The banana cookies sound really good!
The conversion chart is really helpful!
Yes don’t you love it!?

I love what Chobani does to the texture of cookies. I am a chewy soft cookie kind of gal, so it works perfectly for me to basically eliminate any of the crisping agents (butter) and use yogurt instead. I also love it for cooling down chili or spicy soups. If I won (more…am I being selfish even entering? you don’t have to pick me) I would probably continue working on my Yo-nola Bites variations and yogurt-based pizza crust!
I want those recipes for yo-nola bites!! Frozen yogurt bites?

I would definitely have to experiment with some yogurt-y baking! Luckily you’ve provided me a recipe! 😉 I use it a lot to make soups creamy and sometimes in place of sour cream in mexican dishes.
Great idea adding it to soup! It really is good in place of sour cream!

I haven’t tried Chobani yet. Sounds yummy.

I tried the plain chobani yogurt for the fist time yesterday with the nature box orange crush granola, pretty good. Kinda taste like sour cream.
Yes it does have a distinct taste! But the creaminess is divine and you get used to the sharp flavor after awhile. Plus its MUCH healthier than regular yogurt! 🙂
Ii would give cheesecake with Chobani a try.
There are so many things I would like to bake! I would use Chobani as a replacement to all the oils and such that i use in my regular recipes.
Yes it works great as you can tell! 🙂

Bob’s Red Mill has a 10 grain bread recipe that I really like. It calls for yogurt instead of yeast and I always make mine with Greek yogurt. Yummy!
