Happy Friday Friends!
I’m bringing back Friday Five Foodie Finds! Maybe. I tend to have commitment issues when it comes to blogging since this is supposed to be a hobby. But I will likely be looking more for good recipes that I can make at my new apartment because I feel a little in a cooking rut. I also feel like I’m at someone else’s apartment so I think cooking/baking will help me feel more at home.
It looks like I saved this link in October! They still look amazingly decadent (like it would have changed…?). Not at all healthy. But sweets have their place in a semi-healthy diet! These are similar to the cookie-ina-cookie I made a LONG time ago, except I baked those.
This is the same gal I link my WIAW posts up to. Not only does she host one of the biggest link-ups I’ve seen…but this gal can cook! This will hopefully be making its way into my new kitchen soon.
I still have yet to make anything with quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) even though I see it on practically every blog I read. This blogger has a lot of other quinoa bite recipes including Cheesy Quinoa Bites.
Another trend in the foodie world is salted sweets. Although I was apprehensive of this idea, I made some Salted Candy Bar cookies and they were awesome. The contrast of the salty and sweet is perfect in a cookie, so why not try these lovely cookies?
I haven’t used my crock-pot in awhile and this will be a good excuse to! I like that she put spinach on top of the meat because that definitely seems like something I would do.
I hope you all have a great weekend! I will spend mine pretending not to be sick (the mind is a powerful thing, right?) while heading back “home” to get even more spoiled with a remote car starter that Dave got me for Christmas! And my roomie may be baffled at this, but I have MORE stuff to move in. Wish me luck!

What’s on the menu for this weekend? I’m going to attempt lasagna again (and will have a recipe for you!).

um. those cookie dough bites look awesome. ๐
PS I tested myself with a chocolate bar yesterday (not as good as the one that I’d gotten when you guys were here โ I can’t find those anywhere!) … and i had the same reaction to that as I did with the oreos. SUGAR MONSTER.

Weird. When are you eating the chocolate? I eat dessert WITH my meal and only a small amount so there’s no sugar spike and I’m already full from dinner. I also have dessert EVERY day so I think that has something to do with it.
You can call what you’re doing a “sugar cleanse”…but it’s a little like deprivation if you keep yourself from eating something you really want that it really is okay for you to have in moderation.
It seems like doing this is triggering a restrict/binge cycle, so although I applaud your effort to cut sugar…maybe a different method? Or just don’t eat dessert anymore ever? (I would die but I’m sure it’s possible)

Not so much. I had a piece of carrot cake at one point this week and I didn’t have the same reaction, so I think it has to do with the amount of sugar that’s in things. I don’t feel restricted at all, just like I didn’t feel restricted from those oreos (because I started practicing intuitive eating at that same time). And it’s a different feeling than restrict/binge cycle โ my body actually has craving symptoms (like if you didn’t have caffeine for a day sort of thing).
You might be right about the time that I had the chocolate bar โ and how I ate it too. I ate it at my desk for my afternoon snack. I bet if I had it after or with dinner that I wouldn’t have had the same reaction because my blood sugar wouldn’t have spiked, and if I wasn’t at my desk, I bet I would have enjoyed it more because I would have been more aware of eating it.
I get what you’re saying, but I really don’t think this is a restrict / binge thing. I seriously have a sugar addiction.

Just saw this response and I’m glad you’re not restricting yourself! <3 Hope you get it all figured out!! ๐

This made me think of the endless “series” I kept starting on my blog and then giving up after a few weeks. I don’t blame it on commitment issues–although I have them. I blame it on blog ADD or inability-to-remember-what-I-had-planned-because-I-get-excited-about-something-else.

Ha I’m not too worried about it…it’s really about when I get 5 recipes that I want to try…sometimes I’m just not really looking for them or I don’t see any I really think I will attempt. But I really do have blog commitment issues because I can get myself so wrapped up in this little world that I forget…hey…I’m trying to graduate and get a real job ha.
