{MIMM #3} Christmas Baking Party #1

December 17, 2012 by Amanda R DeWitt

Hello Friends!

I don’t host any holidays currently, so I like to bring goodies to each holiday party I attend.  For Christmas, I like to bake…A LOT!

A couple of years ago I worked at the waitressing job until late, then was up until 2am baking and decorating sugar cookies.  You know, because they had to be done..?  I actually stressed myself out so much with the baking that I couldn’t make it to a breakfast I was supposed to attend that morning.  Silly right?

Well I’ve decided that the best thing to do is have a baking party.  This was my first year having one at my friend’s house and I really hope it’s an on-going tradition.

You basically get a bunch of ladies (guys can come too if they want!) together, pool supplies or money (whatever works for you) and have one big night of baking/mixing up dough to take home and bake.

You end up with a variety of goodies and treats to take to your holiday gatherings…if you don’t eat all of them first.  You can always invite your sisters over later for another baking party (post to come!).

I stored all of the cookies I took home in the freezer.

The other treats I put in the fridge..figuring crackers, Oreos and pretzels won’t go bad as quickly.

I may have eaten a few of them already since the party was a couple of weeks ago.  My sister also ate a bunch of the chocolate dipped crackers last week.  It happens!

Here are a couple of recipes that we whipped up that I’ve decided to share with you lovely readers.  I just realized I haven’t shared a recipe in awhile so you’re gonna get a few here! (P.S. I will be back with the other recipes…left them at home..oops!)

We also made this recipe but ommitted the nuts.  Because some people dislike them.  And we didn’t have any. 😉

Some other ideas of things to make:

  • Anything dipped in almond bark and covered in sprinkles.
    • Peanutbutter sandwich crackers
    • Big marshmellows
    • Oreos
    • Pretzels
    • Even cookies half-dipped if you have a large sweet tooth!
  • Chocolate chip cookies made in a muffin tin with a Reece’s stuck in the middle.
  • Cookies with mint baking chips!!  (I eat those plain too at this time of year!)
  • Sugar cookies!!  (We didn’t end up baking any this time but check my blog later this week for some awesome sugar cookie creations.)
  • Chocolate-carmel cookies with leftover carmel baking bits from carmel apple season.
  • Gingerbread cookies or bread
  • Hot Chocolate cupcakes (More on those beauties to come too!)

Funny moment at the baking party…someone yelled out, “What are the carrots for?”

Confused looks crossed faces until I raised my hand and everyone starts cracking up.  They are for me.  Duh.

I also had some fun baking with my sisters last night and I’m super excited to share the pretty cookie and cupcake pictures with you later this week!

I’m off to try to pick up this house before the babysittees wake up from their nap!

Have a happy monday all!  Be marvelous in your monday! 😉

Reese’s pieces cookies?? Oh my lord, yum! I know how it is to stress over baking. When it comes down to it though, it is really fun! I’ve decided to treat my baking time as a relaxing holiday activity. It’s like the best kind of aromatherapy 🙂

That sounds fun! I’d love to join in on a baking party. Plus, I love how many different items you got to bring home. That would be the best part!
