I am just gonna say it: I need to show more grattitude. Like all the time.
I have one of those personalities that makes me lean towards the negative side of things. I can always see what could possibly go wrong in a situation, in any situation really.
This can be a good thing because I can always prepare for the worst, and maybe I’m not as surprised when things do go wrong. But it can also lead me down a very dark path that spirals downward until I’m at my whit’s end. I often wonder how the heck I let my brain go THAT far.
I also find myself complaining a lot and I really hate being a burden to those around me..I want to be a blessing to others!!
Well, if you are like that (or even if you aren’t THAT bad), the perfect thing to counter-act this negativity is positivity. (Thank you math 101.)
Okay, so what can we do specifically about this?
I am challenging myself AND YOU to picking one thing/person/event that we are THANKFUL for every day in the month of November and focusing on that positive item all day long.
How can we participate together?
1. I will post my #30DaysOfThanks on my Semi-Healthy Facebook Page and you are encouraged to post your thankful item for the day there as well.
2. You can also tweet your item to me @SemiHealthNut with the hashtag #30DaysofThanks. I will ReTweet the good ones! (And they will ALL be good, right?)
3. I will have a post at least each Thursday this month called Thankful Thursday (God-willing) with a link-up so you can grab my photo above and blog away about what YOU are thankful for! For the blog posts (or even on Twitter/Facebook) you can post for more than one day, like my #30DaysofThanks blog post from last year.
I am!!
Here’s my first day of thanks:
I tend to complain a lot about my hour-long drive to and from school three days a week, but what I fail to mention is how amazingly gorgeous Nebraska can be.
I just like gazing at the cornfields and horses and cattle grazing (um while keeping an eye on the road too) and thinking that seriously, God is an artist.
Especially in the Fall. My oh my the scenery for my drives was so perfect for a couple of weeks I was almost giddy on my drives.
We don’t have a lot of trees in our neighborhood since it is fairly young, but we do have a pretty sweet view from our back deck.
I do make fun of Nebraska (corn corn corn beef football corn), but I do enjoy the changing seasons!
Yep, those ARE buildings in the background! 😉 |
As a side note, I am extremely grateful to not be located along the coast where the hurricanes attack! If you are one of the many many people affected by Sandy, you are in my prayers! If you have anything specific you’d like me to pray about, never hesitate to e-mail semihealthnut AT yahoo.
Also, I have to mention that I’m pretty sure my good friend Katie is doing something along this lines…just call it a hunch…
Great minds! I heart that girl! 🙂 |
So if you’re in the mood for even more thankfulness…let’s all do this together! 🙂
Hope you enjoy the rest of your week friends! And if you think about it…pray that I kick my Chemistry test’s butt this evening! 🙂
Again, I ask, are you in? Ready to ditch the negativity and to focus on the good!!

Oh man — you guys are hilarious. I love that you both started this today.
Side note: Cedar Rapids, IA is about halfway between Omaha and Chicago. However, Chicago is super fun, and you should go.

I’m in for Cedar Rapids! But staying in Homaha for Thanksgiving this year…my family was going to visit other family in Chicago but it just didn’t work out this year. :/

I love this and definitely need it as wel! Just the other night my dryer kept acting up as I was trying to finish laundry at 10pm and got so frustrated. I said some really ungrateful things and I feel terrible about it – I should be lucky that I have what I have!
Count me in!
November 1: Grateful for my mom. She just had shoulder surgery and it all went very well.

yay! So glad you’re in! And we all take things for granted but let’s focus on the good together this month! 🙂
Glad you’re mom’s surgery went well friend!
