Well it’s been tapering week! (Which to be quite honest…wasn’t all too different from a lot of other weeks in my training for my first ever half marathon.)
I only ran a short run once, instead of two short and one long run. I tried to mostly get some walking in.
Sunday: Rest/Eat Chinese food with BF’s family for Mother’s Day.
Her new camera face |
Oh and a sort-of walk with sister Rachel.
We mostly took pictures.
And gathered wild flowers.
And played in the park.
Monday: Walk with Sister Courtney
Tuesday: 4 mile easy run..just to make sure things were working. I am a little worried about my running shoes…
Wednesday: Body Pump with my friend Brenda! I seriously used low weights…2.5 pounds on each side of the barbell…to ensure I wouldn’t get sore. I did push myself on the abs portion though since I’ve heard a strong core makes a better runner.
Also eating pizza and cupcakes for a late mother’s day. (Carbs right??)
Thursday: Stroller walk with the twins. Only 1.5 miles since it was WINDY.
The twins were sick…runny noses, yucky coughs, sneezing…
Friday: Work for 7 hours at coffee catering job
Developed a sore throat. Could not sleep because of my sore throat. I wonder if the cutie-pies above are to blame?? 🙁
TODAY:
Saturday: Work for another 6 hours on my feet at coffee catering job.
Served up drinks poolside…wish I had brought my swim suit! |
I wanted to go home and die but instead showered and went to the carbo-loading dinner slash packet pick-up.
Pretending to not feel sick |
Then decided to go to a graduation party for dessert. Then watched a tree blow over…hope it isn’t as windy tomorrow!!
Tomorrow
Sunday: THE BIG DAY THAT I’M SO NERVOUS ABOUT!!
Why am I nervous?
I haven’t done a long run in about 3 weeks. This is making me a little crazy.
Also the most I’ve run is 9 miles.
Also I have a stinkin sore throat.
Also I am just now trying to figure out what I need to take with me…
My goal for Sunday: to finish. Ambitious huh?
Praying, praying and praying some more that my sore throat magically dissapears and that it’s not raining tomorrow.
Off to finish my ipod list of race tunes! Can’t find my sync cord thingy, though. *sigh*
Thanks for all of the support from my DailyMile, Twitter and of course my bloggy friends!
I might have skipped out on tomorrow if I didn’t feel a little accountable to you all. <3
Much love and here’s to a good night’s rest!
Are you a runner? What was your biggest race?
If you’re not a runner…what’s your favorite way to keep fit?
[…] Saturday night, the night before the race, (after working outside all day), I got myself checked in to the race, had my pasta dinner, and after attending a graduation party, rushed home to get things ready. I got my playlist ready, clothes set out and prayed continually that I would feel better in the morning. […]
