Okay I may have exaggerated the fact that I live in a hotel, but it sure feels like it lately.
I am learning that it is definitely a skill to survive in a hotel room for days at a time.
It occurred to me that there are many folks out there that travel for work and may benefit from my recent hotel survival skills relating to staying semi-healthy (aka not living solely off of restaurant food and laying in the hotel bed all evening).
Here are some travel tips I’ve come up with:
1. Find a hotel with a fridge and microwave. Sometimes you can request them even if the room doesn’t come equip. This will be necessary to stock with fresh food items.

You can also use the fridge to store leftovers if you decide to venture out to the restaurant scene, however make sure you eat them within a couple of days.
2. Go to a store and find some fresh food items! Fruits, veggies, whole wheat items and healthy snacks such as Luna Bars. I stocked mine with apples, pineapple, carrots, cheese sticks as well as bottles of water and diet dew.
Having healthy food on hand will help you resist going to the vending machine and paying horrendous money for unhealthy food.
3. Pack your gym bag! When you get to the hotel, take your gym shoes out so they will be staring at you, enticing you to get moving.
4. Most hotels have fitness centers…but still try to make sure your hotel has one. If you are on a budget, and can’t afford such a hotel, call the hotel to see if there are any nearby trails you can walk or run.
It’s important to keep up your fitness routine while on the road.
Exercise can help relieve the stress you may experience traveling, plus the fact that it’s always harder to get started back up again when you get back.
I hope these few tips helped someone! Or at least will be reminders on your next business trip or vacation!
Have a great weekend friends!
