Hello everyone! And Happy December!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend! It snowed here!!
Something about snow makes me feel the need to do Christmas shopping…which I actually had to do for the gift exchange shindig at the farm this weekend. Of course I left my camera at home..so I have zero pictures. Maybe someone will be nice enough to e-mail me theirs?? *Wink* *Wink* *Nudge* *Nudge*
I did manage to take pictures of our lovely Christmas tree we put up this year! My Daddio had the time off on the 29th and so did I so we spent the afternoon putting the tree up and little random decorations while watching Elf. (I think I referenced this in my WIAW post)
This year the theme for the tree is silver and gold. Okay, that was the theme last year as well, because that is all of the decorations I have but I am okay with that.
I have only a handful of special ornaments but I am looking forward to growing my collection over the years. And I can’t wait to have kiddos to make me homemade ornaments. 🙂
The angels came from the BF’s mom. One says, “You make the world special just by being in it.” Everyone should have an ornament that says this, don’t you think?
The two nutcracker ornaments are also from the BF’s mom. We picked them up a couple of years ago when we went to see the Nutcracker ballet.
I love going to see the Nutcracker. I used to dance when I was little and as I watch the ballerina’s flutter across the stage, it reminds me of the time in second grade when I told my Sunday school teacher I was going to be a ballerina when I grew up.
I regrettably had to stop taking lessons in seventh grade due to schedule issues….but at least I get to watch the dancers each year if I want, right?
This pretty flower ornament came from China! The BF’s sister lived there for a year and came back around Christmas time two years ago with a bunch of these ornaments. I, of course, chose one with a pink flower. I like pink.
Apparently the BF’s family is the only one that gives me ornaments…did you notice that?
It’s okay though, because my grandma tops all of the ornaments with her homemade stockings!
Until Kindergarten I was called “Mandy.” Apparently my mom introduced me to my teacher at Kindergarten round-up day and I corrected my mom, “My name is Amanda.” My mom was a little shocked, but had the teacher erase “Mandy” and put “Amanda.”
I guess Amanda is a little more of a grown up name? Some of my family still calls me Mandy, which I don’t mind at all..but when people that don’t know me very well try to call me Mandy–nope my name is Amanda.
My grandma on my mom’s side made all of us kids personal stockings. This one has a removable Santa! Aww. 🙂

Well if you were wondering what the finalized tree looks like…look no further than here. (Must get a better camera to capture the beauty of the tree…these pictures don’t do it justice!)
Thought to share with you all:
Since it’s the Christmas season and that means more cooking and baking for the family…I have been thinking of doing some sort of a Christmas recipe and/or decor link-up. I’m sure with our resources combined we can come up with a sweet list! Who’s with me??
Are your Christmas decorations up yet?
How about that Christmas shopping…are you an early bird or a last-minute-frantic-the-night-before shopper?
And let me know what you think about having a link-up!! 🙂
