Guess what the high was today in the good ol’ humid Midwest? 99 degrees. That’s right. Which means that it felt probably like 105 when me and the BF went for a walk.
What did I use for fuel on the walk? Terrible food…I don’t want to even talk about it.
Okay I will tell you. I haven’t been grocery shopping in about 3 weeks…gone out of town a couple of times and did not want things to spoil. Also laziness and eating out too often. Usually I go once a week. Today it was down to the bare bones. I had Beefaroni (from an old can sitting on top of the fridge) with chips…right out of the bag because I was so hungry..seriously? What was I thinking.
So needless to say the heat-walk was not too peachy and I was whiny most of the time due to the heat and my sore belly (tooooo much sodium!). I did, however, remember to bring a bottle of water for the 2 miler walk. I like to freeze part of a bottle of water then fill it up when I go to the gym, etc. so it’s nice and cold. The ice actually melted completely half-way the rough the walk.
Although I did not fuel properly before the walk, I did have some delish post-walk food! After a shower of course because seriously, it was a scorcher out.
I actually don’t eat yogurt that often nowadays…I’m not sure why really. So maybe it was a good thing that I was running low on food because yogurt was the only form of fruit available in the whole house this week so I had it TWICE.
A little note about portions…I made the mistake of eating out of the bag of chips today AND straight out of the bag of granola. PORTION CONTROL NEEDED!
One serving of the Bear Naked Triple Berry Granola is 1/4 cup and it is healthy and delicious and satisfying…but so yummy that you may want to keep eating!
I normally get the measuring cup out and take my granola out of the measuring cup onto the yogurt as I eat. 120 calories vs 240 calories it a pretty significant amount and I am sure I had at least that today.
The grocery store that I shop at has a rating system for most of the food items…1 meaning terrible and 100 would be a fresh piece of fruit or veggies. This item was a 96 I believe…which is AMAZING for processed foods. Love the Bear Naked brand of granola…try it! 🙂
This girl’s tummy does not like regular yogurt and some dairy products so I love Silk products. This one is about 150 calories with 4grams of protein which is pretty decent.
Started summer classes yesterday (online). Was taking Genetics and Nutrition…notice the was?
I found out that the Genetics teacher was a little bonkers…unorganized…demanding…not to mention we had to write SEVENTEEN papers in 10 weeks ON TOP of two weekly papers/discussion posts all with annotated bibliographies PLUS 4 tests…seriously?? This is the second class I have ever dropped in my three years in college and I felt a bit guilty…I need one more science class to get my associate’s degree but it is SO not worth killing myself over when my ultimate goal is the bachelor’s degree. Lookin at the big picture here.
Therefore: dropped the class and now get to focus on my NUTRITION class! 🙂 So be prepared for some intriguing nutrition posts to come…although some of the course deals with clinical nutrition.
Off to beddy-bye. Got some baking things to get started on tomorrow morning before I get my *hair done* by my good friend and then date night with the BF after he gets off work from his first day at his new JOB! 🙂 I have cupcakes and Oreo balls to make for his graduation and my dad placed an order for some cookies for his work outing later this week. Apparently the word got out that I like to bake…
Have a great night everyone!
So has anyone ever dropped a class before? What was the reason? (Help me feel better about bailing out!)
