Hello friends! Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving if you are reading in the US!
The last couple of years on the blog I did #30daysofthanks where I chose something each day of November to be thankful for. I remember it really helped me to focus on the good in my life.
I’m kind of sad I didn’t get around to it this year, but I have been focusing on the good with my Happy Things series.
But it’s Thanksgiving week, so I’m gonna take one day to highlight things I’m thankful for.
1. My family. Living in a different state from my whole family is super hard at times, but it makes it all that much sweeter when we do get together. And we did manage to make it back to Nebraska for Thanksgiving this year despite the snow (thanks for driving, Dave!).
My nephew is a freaking adorable little sassafras. He seems like a totally different kid every time I see him. It’s so crazy he’s turning two next month! Seems like yesterday he was a little baby at the hospital.
2. My ability to move. My sister and I ran (an incredibly frigid) Turkey Trot 5K yesterday and although I was freezing my tush off and was having IT band issues..I realize I need to be thankful I even have the ability to run!
3. Yummy food. The fact that I am so food stable I can pick where I want to eat and what I want to eat. This is something I know I take for granted and I definitely need to be more thankful for.
For example, Mellissa and I had the chance to explore some foodie places in Stillwater a couple of weeks ago.
We started at the Chilkoot Café and Cyclery which happened to be the perfect spot to watch the snow fall on the small town streets. The chai tea was pretty darned satisfying.
We traveled to the Wedge and Wheel for some wine and cheese tasting. I felt very fancy.
4. This dude.
As with any type of roommate, we can get on each other’s nerves, but I am so grateful to have found someone who compliments me so well and accepts me for the (sometimes crazy) person I am. Dave is optimistic and positive when I get worried or frazzled. He helps me with laundry when I’m feeling overwhelmed with due dates (usually from having procrastinated). He’s just a good guy and I’m so thankful for him.
Also..handsomeness.
We got to go on a date day at Mall of America on Sunday and it was pretty great. We saw Catching Fire (the third movie in The Hunger Games series. we also saw the second movie there!) in those seats that move around and make me jump when they expectantly vibrate.
5. You. I’m so thankful for you and this blog! It’s been giving me issues lately, but after 4 years and finally having my own logo, I’m certainly not giving up!
[This photo was actually taken to show I was wearing two different gloves. Because I’m awesome like that.]
Thank you for reading my rambles, sharing my posts and leaving words of encouragement for me! Your support means more to me than you know! <3

We all do! And yes, it’s the little things that we take for granted that are actually HUGE!
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, Sami!

Oh my gosh, a 16 degree race?! You are a brave, brave soul! Also, I love these thankful post themes. I definitely need to do one for myself sometime soon 🙂

Yeah it was one of those situations where I signed up with my sister and didn’t want to let her down! It was SO different running in that kind of weather..lungs burning..body never really warming up..but I made it! 🙂
