Oh man, you guys. I have so much to share with you about Blend Retreat 2014. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have caught a small glimpse of the awesomeness that was happening this past weekend. I think I have about 4 posts coming your way recapping the 4 days I was in Utah. Ah. Mazing. I still need to wrap my brain around it all. My heart = full.
For now, I will share with you the delicious PF Changs Meals for 2 dinner Dave and I shared this evening as well as an offer that is expiring soon.
Speaking of Instagram, you might have seen this:
Right now at Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Randalls, and Tom Thumb, with your club card, you can get a free Fresh Express Salad Blend when you purchase $10 on any participating Marie Callender’s Bakes, Bertolli Meals for 2 or PF Changs Meals for 2 varieties.
I chose the PF Changs Meals For 2 as you can see above and decided to try out the Orange Chicken first.
It was quite convenient to pick up the meals at the store, throw em in the pan and let them cook for 15-20 minutes. This was perfect for how tired I was today. The salad was a great, fresh compliment to the saucy and decadent meal.
What I Liked About PF Changs Meals for 2:
The convenience. Seriously, all you have to do is grab it from the store and cook on medium-high for 15-20 minutes.
The semi-healthy-ness. Yes, it is basically PF Changs in a bag which is restaurant food, but there is a good dose of frozen veggies, which if you recall from last week’s post, may have even more nutrients than the fresh veggies you buy in the store since they are flash-frozen.
The taste. It really was a treat to sit down with Dave and have a meal together that tasted good enough to be from a restaurant. It was like ordering take-out.
The one-pan meal. I am a fan of being able to throw everything into one pan and call it good. Yes, we did have the side-salad, but how hard is that to make?
The “for 2” portioning. Splitting between myself and Dave it was just the right amount.
Under 500 calorie servings. This is great for restaurant-style food.
The price. For under $10 I fed myself and Dave. Going out to eat we usually end up spending over twice that much even at a simple take-out place.
The protein and potassium content. Each serving contains 19 grams of protein and 16% of the daily recommendation of potassium. I’m honestly not used to seeing a potassium content at all on packaged meals, so that right there is a plus. It gets the nutrition nerd in me excited.
What I Disliked About PF Changs Meals for 2:
How saucy it was. It might have been the fact that I’ve had restaurant food all weekend, but the amount of sauce was just a little too much for me. Two easy solutions: Dave mentioned we could have this meal with rice next time (and probably extend it into 3 meals–bonus!) OR I noticed that the sauce is frozen into cubes, so we could just take as many of them out as we wish!
The sugar and sodium content. I don’t really expect anything less from a restaurant meal and this can easily be helped by taking some of the frozen sauce cubes out as mentioned above.

Overall, I am satisfied with this product and will likely be purchasing it again. I am also super excited to try out the Firecracker Shrimp PF Changs Meals for 2!
The offer expires today, so don’t miss out!
So, now the question is…who wants to come do my laundry? We can split a meal for 2! 😉
Tell me….
Which PF Changs Meals for 2 would you pick first? Orange chicken or firecracker shrimp? I probably would have gone with the firecracker shrimp, but I had shrimp yesterday.
