Happy Monday to you all!
I am happy to present to you the third giveaway of the Love Challenge 2014.
There is still time to join and there are still people joining! We are up to 60 inspiring people sharing how they are loving themselves and loving others this month.
Once you sign up and post twice a week, you are eligible for this marvelous giveaway!
Energybits are little bits of food–spirulina algae to be exact.
I will confess that the first sample I received of these, I took one whiff and tossed the container. But then I started to get sick of the sugary running fuel I have used in the past. PLUS I have friends who are energybits ambassadors (hi Alex and Katie!) and sang the praises of algae fuel, so I thought I might give them another try.
What I Love About Energybits:
- They are a natural source of energy.
- These bits are high in protein and therefore have a slow energy release.
- No sugar highs or crashes with energybits!
- The health benefits from these energybits are too numerous to list! A few of my favorites include: lowering blood pressure, helps improve mood, and reduces brain fog. (See more at the energybits website.)
- Olympians use energybits for fuel!! Okay not all of them, but this is still impressive!
- The little tin is pretty handy and portable!
What I Dislike About Energybits:
- The amount you are supposed to take…30 is a lot. I’ve only taken about 10 at a time though and it’s worked out fine for shorter runs.
- The price is pretty steep…it’s quite an investment for a bag. This is why you need to enter in the giveaway!

Good luck everyone!

I still freaking LOVE those things and gave a sample to my friend the other day for her to try. I swear I notice a difference no matter how many I take, so I like feeling like I can scale it depending on what’s on the agenda for the day. I’m also totally take some with me to Kansas City this week to help when I need that energy boost…

That’s awesome!! How do I get this comment moved up to the top?? 😉
Katie Cummings
I agree the serving size is CRAZY! I took a few, but could not get over the smell. However, I have issues with swallowing “pills” or pill shapes. I’m also awful about needing eye drops (i’m going to be a lot of work when I’m in a nursing home, haha).
Jonathan
Hi Katie! Since bits are a food, it’s just like having a handful of nuts or raisins, even though we recommend swallowing with water. Take a look at some of our favorite smoothie recipes at pinterest.com/energybits/smoothies-bits – they’ll blend up so you don’t have to taste or smell them at all!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Ohh blending them into a smoothie is genius! That’s the only way I will eat kale!
Alex @ Alex Runs For Food
Jonathan is right! They do go great in smoothies!!! I also SUCK at taking pills but I love my bits. I have found that taking them with chocolate almond milk does the trick! It takes away the taste, which you do get used to, and it makes it easier to swallow them 🙂
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Chocolate almond milk…YUM!
Kaylin Gilkey
Name in the challenge loop: Kaylin. And my favorite way to feul before a workout is definitely drink plenty of water! I get dehydrated easily so I make sure to be well hydrated before hand.
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Ohh yes good thinking! I’ve even heard to try to drink lots of water the day BEFORE a tough workout or run!
Julie Luong
I tried those last year at Blend. They were pretty good, not tasting but worked well.
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Did you swallow them or chew them? I didn’t really notice a taste when I swallowed them! Reminded me of a strong multivitamin I used to take.
Julie Luong
I swallowed them. It’s not terrible.

Summer Marie
My name in the challenge is Summer Marie Stellato. I don’t like to eat anything heavy before I exercise, so I usually either eat a normal meal 1 and 1/2 – 2 hours before or eat a handful of chopped fruit while heading out the door! Need to work on water intake beforehand, though!
Jennifer Lyle
I like the quest bars or a banana with peanut butter. Some mornings I don’t eat before exercising, a nod just eat a larger breakfast. I’ve heard these energy nits are fantastic!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Bananas are a very breakfast-y food in my opinion so I’m with you there! The bits really do work..good luck!
