Well as I said in Tuesday night’s post, I had a long shift ahead of me on Wednesday. 10 hours on my feet. Which turned into 11 hour because we were freakishly busy due to another bout of snow slowing drivers down.
Now I don’t really feel like I can complain too much. I only work there part-time, usually for no more than 8 hours a pop. (Dave usually works 12 hours a day minimum.) Plus I really really LOVE it (I mean look at all the cool food I get to make/eat). But I only sat down to eat once and my dogs were barking a mere 6 hours in. I ended up leaving around 9pm (which is super late for me) with only a protein smoothie and two meals-to-go in hand. I downed the protein drink, but didn’t even have the energy to nuke some dinner. I crawled into bed fairly soon after I got to the apartment.
I only realized at midnight that not eating more during the day was a ginormous mistake. And that my legs hurt like crazy. I tossed and turned about an hour before I decided to get up, get some food in my belly and take some advil for my poor sore legs.
Although waking up and eating in the middle of the night isn’t super fun, I do have today off so I was able to get some glorious and much-needed sleep. In light of my lazy day, I have a light post saved for such an occasion. Plus I think it qualifies for Amanda’s Thinking Out Loud link-up. Bonus.
I saw this fun running questions survey on Cori’s blog Olive to Run (confession: it took me a long time to remember her real name..it isn’t Olive haha). I’ve been getting a little more into running recently (read: I go through phases and I’m just getting out of the “I hate running and am taking x months off” phase). In fact, I ran a couple of miles last night after work. (The fact that my legs are super sore is making a little more sense having said that.)
Would You Rather: Running Questions
#1. Would you rather run in a thunderstorm or a snowstorm? Gah. I’m kind of a wimpy runner. I have gotten myself to run in colder temperatures in the past (haven’t run in the brutal Minnesota weather yet).
#2. Would you rather breathe through your nose or breathe through your mouth? I have pretty much mastered nose breathing because I used to breathe all crazy out of my mouth while running and it makes you thirsty!! If I need to breathe through my mouth I go in through the nose and out the mouth. Yes, breathing while running is THAT serious. π
#3. Would you rather do 100 squats or 100 crunches? [Now take a break and go do them. ;)] Hmm crunches? I haven’t done a crunch in awhile though so maybe I should stick with squats.
#4. Would you rather have a baked good for dessert or an extra serving of your favorite entree? Dessert!!!!!
#5. Would you rather run on a treadmill for an hour or run around the same street block for an hour? Well the same street block would get pretty boring, but the treadmill is a tad boring too… Maybe I’d do outside if the weather was gorgeous and indoors if I had my netflix to watch (currently it is Breaking Bad while running). π
#6. Would you rather have a headache during a run or a side stitch? Headache because I would probably just pop advil. Side stitches are a little more tricky, although I have learned some techniques for fixing the dreaded side stitch.
#7. Would you rather have a rest day on a work day or a day off? Well, as I just droned on about above, I work on my feet, so it’s not really a rest day. Today is a good rest day since I don’t have anything to do that requires much movement.
#8. Would you rather be a race director or a race volunteer? Race volunteer for sure. I am good with details, but not great at all with pressure like directing a race! I might consider being on a planning committee or something though!
#9. Would you rather spend your money on running gadgets [HRM, GPS watch, Headphones] or running shoes? Running shoes. I always ask for shoes for my b-day (in April) and Christmas since I know I will always eventually need a new pair. And my beloved Asics ain’t cheap! I was also super pumped to receive a fitbit this Christmas, so I think I’m good on the running gadgets front!
#10. Would you rather run in a relay or do the run portion of a distance triathlon? I think a relay would be really fun! Having a van full of your friends follow you and getting to rest in every few miles…that’s how it works, right?
And with that, I am off to sit on my booty, eat lots of waffles and possibly study some NASM materials. Happy Thursday all! π

Thanks for joining in… your confession isn’t that uncommon. A lot of my readers thought my name was Olive for a long time and some, even though they now know it’s Cori still call me Olive for the fun of it. π

I think I started following you on Instagram before reading your blog so that’s why I was confused. I mean your blog has a whole page on “Olive and Popeye” so I got it after I saw that π Also those nicknames are super cute!

Eee I hate the feeling of a grumbling stomach when you’re trying to go to sleep — definitely happened to me a handful of times, and I always have to give in because it’s almost impossible to get to sleep on an empty stomach. At least you were able to catch up on sleep this morning π
And I’m not a runner in the winter, so I keep fit by snowboarding.

Yeah I didn’t quite realize I was hungry until after I was in bed..and I was sooo tired I thought I’d just fall into a sleep coma. Nope lol.
I really want to try skiing sometime! I’ve heard of too many broken bones from snowboarding!!

I would definitely pick baked goods.

I have to know, what is on that sandwich? It looks so good!!!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
I believe pesto, egg, tomato and mixed shredded cheeses! There’s a link above the pic to more yummy foodie things I make at work! π

Love this post! I might have to snag the survey myself.
Same block for an hour, and snowstorm because I won’t get too wet.
Also that food does look good!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Yes do it!! And lmk when you do! π

I’d rather run in a thunderstorm. I’d also rather do the crunches. That sandwich looks delicious, by the way!

It’s so crazy to me that people want to run in a thunderstorm, but I suppose I can see it being fun for a couple of miles! π

Well, okay, the thunder/lightning would be pretty scary and probably not safe. But the rain would be fun! I’ve run in heavy rainstorms a couple of times in the summer and really enjoyed that it kept me cool.
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
The cooling part of rain is good! I agree though…lightning?? No way!
