Happy Thanksgiving, friends! If things are going according to plan, I will have arrived in Nebraska late last night (slash early this morning) and am getting rested up to hang out with family and eat lots of turkey and special grandma sugar cookies! Dave and I are planning on spending over a week in good ol’ Nebraska and I couldn’t be happier about it! Exclamation points!!!
Today is the “Grand Thankful Thursday Link-Up 2013”
which means that you can link up any and all of your thankful posts up through the end of the month! Even if you’ve already linked posts, you can re-link them here so we can just have a huge Thankful Thursday link-up post on the best day to be thankful…Thanksgiving!! I was thinking of having one more link-up after this but felt pity for those poor poor people who have to listen to us talk about what we are thankful for (slight sarcasm here).
(Grab the button below for easy link-back action.)
Check out the past posts here:
Thank you so much to the lovely people participating via the link parties and social media! I am often reminded of things I should be thankful for when I read what everyone else is thankful for. Good stuff!
What I am Thankful For
Warning: There is more than one sappy post involving my thankfulness for Dave. Possibly because I feel guilty it’s taken me this long to include him in the mix. Err, because I am so so thankful for him! ๐
Day 22: I am thankful for an organization like Girls on the Run.
I had the opportunity to fund-raise for them as well as run the Girls on the Run 5K and let me tell you, this is one great organization. The values and confidence they instill in these young girls will stay with them the rest of their lives. I can’t wait to get more involved (especially since I randomly saw the founder of the twin cities chapter at work yesterday and she personally invited me!)
Day 23: I am thankful that Dave also has a love for video games
(I only play the Sims, but I can get quite addicted when I do). We still make fun of each other, but in a way that each of us knows we are both a little dorky and it’s okay. (PS Check out this article I wrote on 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Playing Video Games…there are many benefits to “gaming!”)
Day 24: Thankful for my Ninja Ultima blender
(that I have still yet to do a full review of…oops)! I whipped up some salsa this day and I was amazed by the fact that I only had to quarter an onion and it got completely demolished with a few short pulses!
Day 25: I am thankful that Dave and I have occasional Fridays off together
for fun things like going to the Mall of America to see Hunger Games: Catching Fire!
Day 26: I am thankful for this blog and all of the opportunities that blogging affords me!
Day 27: I am thankful for time in the car with Dave on the way to Nebraska!
It seems silly, but being put into a car with someone for 6 hours really can draw you closer (unless you are both tired and crabby…then it might be best that one of you takes a nap while the other drives). We play Pandora or YouTube the most of the way which can involve anything from Katy Perry to 90s alternative to Disney music. Good times.
The following days I’m writing in advance. I will be doing my best to focus being thankful for each of these things in these next few days.
Day 28 + 29: On these days I will focus on being thankful for my family.
Not that this is something hard to do (I mean seriously I miss them so much for a reason!), but I really want to think about each member of my family and recognize how amazing and unique he or she is. Oh and try to think of good Christmas presents because this is an area I have trouble with each year. Thus the two days needed for this one. ๐ Also hopefully I will be able to take some more current pictures of my family and share a little bit about them here on the blog!
Day 30: On this day I will focus on being thankful for Dave’s family.
Which will be easy since we will be spending the weekend together at the family farm! Dave’s parents are like a second set of parents to me in the sense that I know they would do anything for me. I really appreciate all they do for me and how they treat me even though I’m not technically a member of the family.
I hope you all enjoy spending time with your family or friends or however you are spending your Thanksgiving! Even if you aren’t linking up, please tell me one thing that you are thankful for!

I loved Hunger Games as well!
What a great list of things to be thankful for ๐
Enjoy your thanksgiving. We don’t celebrate it here in Australia but I have been drooling at all the food photos on other blogs.

Thanks, Jan! Both for the kind words and the reminder that I don’t only have US readers!! ๐
