Today is the day! Moving day! So I’m going to attempt to keep this short and sweet!
I lost my fancy camera’s charger for awhile (yay for moving and finding it!) so I haven’t been able to take the best pictures of food…but I did discover an entire folder of food from May, so here are some of the tasty high lights. I thought I’d leave you with some pretty food pictures since our moving adventure may or may not have access to internet for the first week or so.
But if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, I will let everyone know we made it to the twin cities safe and sound! (Because I know you all worry about me…right??)
(More about WIAW or What I Ate Wednesday here.)
If you are a fan of bread, you should probably head over to check out my Ezekiel bread giveaway. This bread has no added sugar, is high fiber AND delicious! I’m also loving all of the entries (I am having everyone tell me what toppings they would use on their bread.)
1. Toasted Ezekiel bread with margarine (or butter, can’t remember) topped with an omelet with spinach.
2. Toasted PB+J. The classic Amanda breakfast.
3. French toast with scrambled eggs full of veggies and a little bacon.
1. I’ve been trying to mix a little La Croix sparkling with my diet dew. La Croix alone tastes a bit plain and bitter, but it’s definitely healthier than the diet dew. *sigh*
2. Spinach + cottage cheese + almonds.
3. Spinach + egg salad + celery.
I can’t wait to make smoothies again! Currently our blender is in a box…but you better believe we will be stocking up on frozen berries to whip up some fresh summery smoothies! This one involved frozen blueberries, blackberries, a full banana, a scoop of vanilla protein powder and silk almond milk. I think it made one giant smoothie and I gulped it down after a long, schweaty run.
Oh dessert. How I love thee.
1. Quick oatmeal cookie. Recipe to come!
2. Mama Sue’s chocolate chip cookie. Secret family recipe for now. 😉
3. + 4. Ferrero Rocher chocolate truffles. These were consumed during and after finals. I think I still have a couple somewhere though…
5. I made some plain sugar cookie dough and put it in the fridge. Then with an icecream scoop I would scoop some out and add some yummy toppings for a ice-cream-ish dessert. That’s how we dairy-wary people roll!
It’s very clear that my brain is fried.
I mistakenly said that the Ezekiel bread I was giving away was gluten free. My face is seriously bright red right now! I was looking at the side panel on the site where it says “gluten free” but that was actually sorting their breads into categories. Also that bible verse got me excited thinking there wasn’t wheat in it. I might have thought sprouted wheat made it gluten free…ugh I feel silly! But it is tasty!
Maybe it’s a good thing I won’t have internet access for a few days, huh? 😉
Much love and hope to chat with you all soon!

I’ve always looooved ezekiel bread! It used to be the ONLY bread I bought because it’s so dense and hearty, but it’s also quite pricey. And with marriage and a baby coming along I’m trying to minimize my foodie loves as much as possible (since Greg doesn’t like Ezekiel), haha. I hope your move goes well and God bless you!
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Thanks Ellie! I haven’t even seen Ezekiel here yet…dang didn’t know it was expensive! And definitely if your man doesn’t like it, that doesn’t help haha

Love that idea of sugar cookie dough dessert – yum! Man, I love cookie dough. . . great, now I have to go make some cookies – well at least the dough!!

Mmmm, toasty PB&J!! Now that’s what I’m talking about! But seriously?! That cookie dough idea is freaking genius!! What recipe do you use for the dough? I tried to buy some vegan dough (for raw-eating purposes only) at Whole Foods and it tasted like C-R-A-P!! 🙁
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Umm this was definitely the kind in a bag that you add a stick of butter and an egg to. Nothing healthy about it but satisfied my sweet tooth with a teeny bowl of it! 🙂

Moving…oy. I am without internet in my house for the next month or so, but I actually am looking at is a nice respite from constant blogging and social media. I can still get on the network and IG, but I definitely think about it a little more. (I also spend a lot longer at the gym where there is free Wi-Fi on my phone. ;))
So, I must say, I have been falling off the ‘no soda’ wagon repeatedly over the past few weeks. I do actually like La Croix now, but there is NOTHING as sweet as a sip from a can of Diet Coke or Dr. Pepper. [Diet Dew was my drink of choice when I was student teaching. ;)]

Yes, it has been good to kind of unplug…at least not write up a blog post! I have been on Instagram CONSTANTLY though. I might have a problem. 😉
And I think diet dew is just one of those things that I will never be able to give up. At least we’re not into smoking or anything right? A can or two a day really can’t be THAT bad.

Oh, instagram. I wish I could say that you get over the initial obsession, but, well, no. However, I am extremely self-involved with it and usually just post my pictures without really looking at other people’s. Oops.
Also, my grandfather was a doctor, and he used to say something similar about diet soda: if that’s your vice, you’re doing all right. 🙂
