Wow where did the last week go? I seriously feel like I JUST wrote up a WIAW (or What. I. Ate. Wednesday.) post (and painstakingly watched as the bar crept along showing the status of the photo uploads…dang hotel internet!).
Since these photos from the amazing Mall of America did not want to upload for me on Monday, I decided to share them today!
{Breakfast} (No our day did not start at the mall…this was just close to our hotel)
Brueger’s Bagels’ Western Egg Sandwich with no cheese and no sauce.
Note to self: no cheese or sauce on this type of sandwich means no binding agent for the multiple veggies. This was super messy, but I was happy to get some vegetables into me so early in the day!
{Snack} We arrived at the great Mall of America and…I got to try Jamba Juice!
Dave ordered the Banana Berry Smoothie and we split it as we oohed and ahhed over all of the lego creations (and prices of the star wars legos!). I also had him add an “energy shot” for all of the walking around we would be doing. Quite refreshing and we at least got a serving of fruit each!
I think this smoothie store reminds me of the movie Baby Mama (the one where Amy Poehler is supposed to carry Tina Fey’s baby) because one of the characters owns a smoothie store that he insists is nothing like Jamba Juice. This may have been why I wanted to try it and got super excited when I saw the sign.
I like seeing the random guy I didn’t even know I was photographing… |
{Linner (Lunch + Dinner…or a late lunch/early dinner)}: We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
No, I cannot use the photo of me and “Forrest” from my half-marathon day enough.
We split the Seafood Hush Pups with a delightfully spicy sauce that we also used for our Shrimp Po’ Boy sandwich. Both were greasy, yet the grease was balanced out by the other components of each dish so that it was appetizing and I didn’t feel completely gross afterwards. (Yes, we ate the cabbage garnish that came with the hush puppies.)
{Dinner} We crashed hard at the hotel with simple peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches and carrots while watching This is 40. That movie is hilarious..if you can handle the f-bombs. I actually feel like it’s a pretty accurate portrayal of my future…which was scary but intriguing.
{Dessert} Of course we had to nosh on some of my Banana Split Brownies.
Here is a hint…I’ve been complaining about the status of this a lot in my posts lately. (Okay it’s sad if you can think of more than one thing I’ve been complaining a lot about lately.)
Another hint is this photo Dave sent me two days ago (when it STILL wasn’t official):
If you need more hints, this is probably the first time you’ve read the blog this month (get with it people! just kidding…I know your lives aren’t so small that you’re so concerned about me and my worries).
Dave got the job!
It’s official as of yesterday! The HR department finally sent over paperwork and Dave should be calling to put a deposit down on the sweet apartment we looked at in St. Paul, Minnesota.
I am so relieved slash excited slash nervous slash wanting-to-plan-every-detail-of-the-move TODAY, but for now, I am finally going to look into schools in the area. This is something I was holding off on due to the dissapointment we encountered in Kansas City.
I still, admittedly have to take a five week Chemistry II course at my current school because I did terrible in it this past semester, but aside from that, I just can’t wait to hang out with Dave a whole lot and move on to a new school! (Now crossing my fingers everything transfers!!) We’ve been going through this traveling/relocating dealio for two years now and it’s OVER!! 🙂 🙂
A cool thing about this position…the last few managers to leave this specific management position in the twin cities have moved to a great position in the corporate office…which happens to be in our hometown! So this means we will likely (God-willing) be moving back home in 2-3 of years!
God is good. God is great. He always has a plan! I just need to work on that whole patience thing….
Much love to you all and thank you SO MUCH for listening to me whine about this the past few…months. You have no doubt helped me get through this, empathized with me and pushed me to think about the positives in the situation.
Seriously I wish I could just reach out and hug each of you…and I just might if you are attending Blend Retreat 2013!
Have you been to Mall of America? Was it everything you dreamed?
Tell me something good going on in your life! (Or a problem you’re having…I think I owe some of you a listen!)

I was hoping that was going to be the news!! Congrats to Dave! I’m so happy for you BOTH and I know while there’s still a journey ahead with the move, this will be so good for you guys! 🙂

Thanks so much friend! Yes, still a bit of a process, but I’m excited for some stability!! 🙂

I went to the Mall of America back in 2004, and I loved it! I did make the huge mistake of wearing high heels the first day there. That includes wearing them during the flight there and everything. My feet had never hurt so bad! I had to buy a pair of comfy shoes just to make it back to the hotel. That’s how bad they hurt! It was either that or have my husband carry me, and it was quite a trek from where we were to get to the taxis. Anyway, I spent a ton of money on new clothes, ate some great food and had a blast!

haha I wore some flats that I THOUGHT were comfy but by lunch time my toes were actually burning because they had been rubbed raw! I was going to wear tennis shoes but the BF was all like “why do you always wear those??” lol guys do not get it.

Yay!!! I know how frustrating it is to try and think of the future and make plans when it is so uncertain. Love the twin cities area – my sister lives there and if I had to move that would be one of my top choices 🙂

We will have to meet up when you visit Shari!!

Your breakfast looks awesome! I love getting in a lot of veggies in the morning :).
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
I typically don’t get veggies in the a.m. so I was definitely patting myself on the back!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!! (to Dave that is) I know you were having such a rough time with the moving and the disappointment, I’m glad that things worked out 🙂 My BF graduated this weekend (and I had to start right in with summer classes) so I’ve been hanging on to that as my good news all week!

There are so many things I love about this post:
1. I love that you thought of Baby Mama because of Jamba Juice, I love that movie. And also Jamba Juice.
2. I had Bubba Gump for the first time last time I was at the Mall. SO GOOD!
3. Oh, and my favorite part … you’re moving to MN! I love that city. I see some Blend meet-ups happening in the future :).
Congrats to Dave!

YESSSSSSS!!! I’m reading at my desk today and jumping for joy.
Was the place you looked at actually in St. Paul or was it those ones in Woodbury? Send me your address when you have a chance so I can see how close you are to Mark’s ‘rents and other family members. 🙂

Also, I think you know that I don’t believe in God (or at least I don’t identify as a Christian), but I do believe in a higher power and I do believe that there is a plan and that it will ALWAYS work out.

eeee so excited!! Texting you now!
