Happy Monday!
It’s another Marvelous Monday! Mondays tend to be a weekend recap as of late, so here was my weekend!
Dave (the BF) and I had another fun-food-filled weekend back in my home town. (It’s so weird that I don’t live there anymore! 25 years of my life and I have to visit my “home town.”)
I definitely am learning that when I go home, it means lots of restaurant foods so I need to be careful with portion sizes and making sure to order extra veggies and salads to go with the typical high fat/high calorie entrees.
Dave hung out at my new place Friday night and since we decided to drive separately, it gave me a chance to run with my roomie Saturday morning. I was having anxiety for some reason over packing everything up and leaving for the weekend because I feel like I don’t accomplish ANYTHING when I go out of town so I readily accepted the chance to run off some steam.
I’m not very used to running with people and certainly not used to running AND talking AND laughing at the same time, so it was a bit of a change for me and I had to request to stop a couple of times…but we went 4 miles! My tricky roommate took us a full mile longer than I had planned on going. I won’t get too mad because I’m not terribly sore today. I also felt a million times better after running and chatting. Never fails!
After taking my second shower of the day (my roomie run was not planned), I got packed up and headed out to meet Dave and his sister for coffee and Scooters, probably my favorite coffee place since my coffee catering days. I really turned into an espresso snob after working there and can definitely taste the difference!
We chatted about life and her recent trip to Istambul, Turkey. Did you know that the US embassy there got bombed recently? So thankful she got back safely!
That night we got to hang out with some good friends for a birthday at an Italian place called Grisantis. Dave and I split an entree and I almost died laughing when we saw the plates arrive.
We ordered the Chicken Parmesan which came with two ginormous pieces of chicken with large helpings of pasta and broccoli. A whole five pieces. Not even big pieces! Seriously is it any wonder there is an obesity epidemic in America?
I ended up forgetting my coat this weekend since it was so nice out when I left the apartment and ended up wearing Dave’s leather jacket…which looked a tad massive on me.
Of course we saw some of Dave’s friends from high school at the bar we went to afterwards and I kind of felt like a goof with the huge coat, but what are ya gonna do? I’m the type that if I’m cold, I need to get warm…even if I look a little goofy.
We left the bar super early (the band hadn’t even come on) to go to bed. One of those days!
Sunday we met with my brother Josh and his BF Brian at Chili’s for lunch because we hadn’t seen them since…Christmas? And I missed my brother! He’s good. Over achieving as usual. And graduating before me. I still love him! 😉
Dave and I met at Chili’s so it’s always kind of fun going back. (Have I ever told this story on the blog? It’s kind of funny and a tad lengthy so maybe I will tell it later?) This time we actually didn’t see ANYONE we knew!
I decided to try something new so I went with the Spicy Grilled Shrimp Tacos. They come with rice and beans, but working in the biz, I knew we could sub out different sides so I got broccoli and their new sweet potato fries. The tacos were decent and spicy, but I wasn’t crazy impressed with the sweet potato fries. They were a bit too salty for me and not very crispy.
I stopped by my dad’s house for my new arrival of Chobani greek yogurt flavors to test. Oh my goodness the banana is decadent! I had some as a bedtime/study snack last night and seriously licked the lid and wanted a second one, but stopped myself. Now that is self-control!
Speaking of Chobani…did you all want to know the winner of the Chobani contest the ended last week?
I’m super excited because I actually know this person. Well, sort of. She has guest posted for me on the theme of my Vegetarian Curious series and we’ve chatted on Twitter quite a bit, but we will be meeting in person in May for Blend 2013!
It’s Alex from Alex Tries it Out! Congrats girl! Shoot me and e-mail and I will forward you on to my lovely Chobani friends! 🙂
If you didn’t win this giveaway, fret not, I have a feeling there will be another one coming soonish.
Have a Marvelous Monday all! AND check out the LOVE Challenge going on! And make sure to share your stories! It makes my heart happy to hear that the LOVE is being spread around. 🙂

I want to hear the ‘meet cute’ story!!!
Looks like a great weekend. Considering some of the things I wear out in a public, a jacket that is a bit too big is nothing to be worried about. 😉

haha the “meet cute” story will come. Maybe on our anniversary or when he (finally) proposes. 😉
Thanks for making me feel better!!
