Late Night Frozen Yogurt

September 13, 2012 by Amanda R DeWitt

Hello Friends!

That’s right.  I did not say “fro yo.” ((yet)

My wonderful boyfriend Dave got me three little containers of frozen yogurt since I was all sicky poo last week.  Because cold desserts fix everything. 😉

Since I am lactose intolerant..I had to give up eating ice cream, which I will admit, I did about every night through high school.  (Oh to have that metabolism again!)  BUT I have discovered frozen yogurt in small amounts doesn’t make me feel bloated and send me to bed with stomach cramps!

And I cannot get enough of the creamy delightfulness!

Although I wanted to down each and every last spoonful of the frozen treat right away, I resisted the urge, and mentally planned how to not scarf it all down in one night.

Playing it Smart with Late Night Frozen Yogurt

  • Portion control.  Two scoops into a small mug is about 100 calories based on the carton.  The smaller the mug, the more fro-yo it seems you have.  (There, I said it.  Fro–yo.)

  • Add nuts for satiety.  The protein and healthy fats will help to fill you up and keep you from going back for more.

  • Add chocolate.  Wait, I just did that because I love chocolate. 😉  So while you’re at it, add reece’s chocolate cups.  Yum.

  • I also mentally combined my dessert with my late night snack each time I had a mug of this creamy dreamy frozen yogurt so that I’m not adding extra calories to the day.  (Guilt-free for the win!)  This works for me because I usually have dessert with dinner and usually always have a bedtime snack.

Note: A lot of frozen yogurt doesn’t contain active bacteria, so it won’t benefit you the same way regular yogurt will.  If you’re going for healthy, grab a yummy cup of Chobani (see yesterday’s post for how to bake with Chobani!).

Now I’m off to finish my cup-o-goodness and get to bed.  I have a big Chemistry test tomorrow AND my first day of nannying for my new family!

Have a great night all!

What’s your favorite flavor of frozen yogurt?

Do you believe in the beauty of a late-night snack?  I can’t go to bed without mine!
