Well in case you live under a rock, college football is back in session!
Dave (the BF) and I made a last minute decision to invade our friend’s home to watch the Nebraska Husker’s game on their ginormous television, eat lots of food, and drink some tasty margaritas on game day Saturday.
I decided to make my Nebrexican guacamole again (to be chefy and impress my friend April, who is amazing in the kitchen).
This is an old photo taken at the BF’s house…and no it wasn’t Christmas time… |
The game didn’t turn out so hot, but we did have fun. The guys actually went out before the 4th quarter was even over to hang out in the trees…because that is what having more than one of these margaritas will do to ya. You’ve been warned!
(PS He wrote the recipe on a recipe card and re-wrote it because it was too sloppy. Too funny!)
Ingredients:
- 3 parts tequila (I always spell it “tequilla.” No idea why.)
- 2 parts triple sec
- 1 part lime juice
- 2 parts OJ
- 2 parts sweet & sour (eliminate for less sugar)
Thanks Mike for the recipe AND for mixing up some awesome margaritas!
Dave had a few of these..and was super goofy. I’m glad I stuck to my one drink!
Me: Dave I want to take a picture of the pitcher. (This is what he does.) |
While the boys were being goofy and hanging out in the trees out back (better than playing with power tools in the basement), April and I got to hang out and talk about running.
She’s run a couple of marathons, so it’s fun to pick her brain. My running’s been a little slack lately, and I haven’t quite stuck to my running schedule, but I really got more excited about running talking to her. Sometimes that’s all it takes.
Although the ritas and food and company was awesome, I definitely slept in until 11am and missed church, which really bummed me out.
I’m not the type to believe that I need to go to church every single weekend in order to get to heaven, but I genuinely enjoy going. I love the worship music and listening to our pastor share words of wisdom from the bible. It helps me to focus my thoughts upward instead of me and my silliness. Oh well, there’s always next week!
Hope you all had a great weekend friends! I think it’s gonna be a good week, yes?
Do you drink margaritas? I probably drink twice a month, but I do enjoy a good margarita!
Do you go to church? Why or why not? (I know this is kind of a big question…feel free to e-mail me to chat about it! semihealthnut AT yahoo)
P.S. If you follow my blog feed…it’s broken. I have no idea what’s up and don’t even know who to ask. (If anyone has ANY info let me know!) BUT you can follow me on Facebook and Twitter as I update those with my current blog posts. So sorry! I’m debating on moving to WordPress, but it seems like a lot of work while I’m in school, ya know?

My move to WordPress wasn’t nearly as bad as I had it built in my head it would be. And I think what made it seem so much worse was that I moved it from Blogger to WordPress.com and then to WordPress.org to be self hosted all within 6 months.
But I do LOVE a good margarita. Lately I’m loving the “fresh squeezed” ones that are basically lime juice, agave and tequila. So simple and delicious.

You’re right it probably won’t be too bad. I already actually set up a wordpress page (no idea if it was the self-hosted one!) and imported things, but I hated trying to use it. I’m just so used to Blogger! But if my feed doesn’t fix itself soon…it’s really hard to do all the promoting for my blog especially without people getting the subscription e-mails, having it show up in their readers, etc.
Fresh-squeezed margaritas sound delightful! 🙂

I do not drink margaritas but it is just because I don’t often have the opportunity to, or if I do drink I have something else. I also don’t go to church, mostly because it honestly just bores me. While I am christian I think god is everywhere and while that may be a great spiritual choice for a lot of people it does nothing for me.

I challenge you to try a different church! I looked around to find the right one…everyone has their style and I agree that some can be a snore for me but be deeply meaningful for other people. And yes, I agree that God is everywhere…NOT just in church! 🙂
Thanks for your honest thoughts Shari!

I’m a margarita fan–There’s a local restaurant that makes amazing ones, so when I do have one (yeah, once a month or so for me too), I love to go there–plus then I can pretend it’s ALL the way healthy–since they blend in real fruit. It’s just like a smoothie, right? 😉

Oh that definitely sounds healthy! 😉 (at least semi-healthy!)
