So I wasn’t going to do WIAW, because that would involve visiting other blogs, which I’m temporarily giving up. I did decide to pop in on Jenn’s WIAW because she told me via Twitter that she had created an ACV concoction that she wouldn’t be sharing until today. (*sigh* I broke down and read a blog in one day! I think I have a problem.)
Apple Cider Vinegar is apparently great for digestion and for the skin and hair…according to Calee and Laura. But it is SUPER tart and, well, vinegar-y (which is why we were joking with Lindsay that we should do shots of it at Blend next year). (P.S. I’m linking to twitter accounts because I’m serious about not visiting any more blogs…and I know I will get sucked in because I love these ladies!)
I actually have some of this stuff leftover from my Dr. Pepper Ribs BBQ sauce and had no idea what to do with it. Apparently I make a cocktail out of it. 😉
Then I saw the theme for the month. Summer staples! Okay I will do a little WIAW post. 🙂
Never heard of WIAW? It stands for What I Ate Wednesday. Read more about why I do these posts here.
This post will be a little different as I won’t go through a whole day of food, but show you just a few of my summer staples. And summer is fading quickly for me…I have to go back to school in a couple of weeks!
Summer Staple #1: Putting leftovers on cold salads.
Exhibit A: Leftover boneless wings, chopped celery and half of a lemon onto a cold bed of baby spinach.
Summer Staple #2: Cold drinks for hydration and recovery.
I mix water and gatorade for my outdoor schweaty running excursions. Something fun to do is freeze 1/4 bottle of gatorade, then fill it with water and take it on your run. It keeps the water cold and by the time you really need the electrolytes, voila! Melted!
I also enjoy my frozen Berry Smoothies for recovery.
Summer Staple #3: Family time.
We celebrated my youngest sister’s 12th birthday this week. That was the day I discovered that all of my siblings (all younger) are taller than me. Sad day. I really shouldn’t have been sneaking all of that coffee when I was younger….
Summer Staple #4: Pool time.

I haven’t gotten to the pool nearly as often as I would have liked, but since I feel my summer days waning away, I’m making an effort to get some splash time in!
Time to get ready for work! Hope you all have a lovely Wednesday!
What are some of your summer staples?
Are you heading back to school this fall like me? Are you ready??

I snuck coffee as a kid too…my mom used to let me have the “last drop” of her coffee sometimes, but I’d usually try to sneak in a couple sips when she wasn’t paying attention. 😉
And I used to mix gatorade with water too! Mostly because I didn’t feel like I needed or wanted it that sweet but now that FitMixer Amino entered my life, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go back to the Gatorade. okay, maybe I will because I like it but it’s now got competition!

oooohhh how do I forget about fitmixer aminos?? I need to order some! Thanks for the reminder friend! <3

I love your gatorade trick — I used to do that with water bottles when I marathon trained (but wasn’t smart enough to get a koozie!)
And PS I missed your post about reading other people’s blogs. I think taking a break is a good idea. I took a break for a while and realized that it’s not a popularity contest. It’s about writing about what you want to write about (and yes, make graphics the way YOU want to make them!), and being yourself. You’re not trying to make a living off your blog, so there’s no big push to get followers. I’ve been blogging for 4 years and before blend, I had the same 5 people who read mine every day. Now I have the same 20 people who read mine most every day.
<3
PS Not gonna lie. There's nothing too exciting coming up on mine anytime soon. You won't miss anything!

and yes I PSed twice.

I’m so glad we’re friends! You are awesome! (and hilarious)
I know it’s not a popularity test but sometimes my ego gets all messed up. I want to blog for myself as well as others…I really do want to help people!
Ps are you training for anything now?
calee himes
Yes — just signed up for a 10-mile race. I took that advice that I gave you and signed up for something. 🙂

Are you on dailymile?? Let’s motivate each other to train! Unless I’m the only one who tends to skip her long runs….lol

I literally just set up my account. I was on there from a LONG time ago when I marathon trained. I use Nike+ mostly though. Did you sign up for another half?
PS we could totally do a long run together sometime. 😉 That would be fun!

Summer staple for me is swimming but not usually in a pool 🙂 lake michigan or one of the smaller lakes around here does the trick. I do not blog but I love reading yours so if you need to take a break from reading others ok but I’m glad you are still updating yours 🙂
Amanda aka Semi-Health Nut
Haha thanks Shari!
Lake swimming weirds me out! I’m not the strongest swimmer and I just find it super creepy if I can’t see the bottom…but good for you for getting in! 🙂
