I thoroughly enjoy linking up to Jenn’s WIAW {What I Ate Wednesday) each week. It’s a brilliant idea.
We all eat every day (well, hopefully). We also seem to have an obsession with knowing what’s going on in other people’s lives. (See Facebook, Twitter, blogs and reality shows.)
It’s also quite revealing to check in on myself once a week to see what kind of fuel is going into my body.
I am not a perfect eater. I am not uber-healthy. I am not a strict, clean eater.
I am just a gal from Nebraska who is trying to balance my favorite indulgences with healthy fuel. (More info on my What I Ate Wednesday posts here.)
This particular post showcases some of my eats from the Nebraska State Shoot in a lovely little town called Doniphan, a town very close to Ashland, where I ran my 10K Race. It was very challenging to eat even semi-healthy when I only had access to fast food, restaurants, and food stands at the shooting range. I think I did pretty well though, considering.
I also made it a point to walk as much as possible each day…otherwise all you do at a trap shoot is sit around, eat, play cards, and oh yea…watch people shoot things!
Breakfast: Either a Kashi Go-Lean bar on the days I stayed at the hotel until lunch, Subway breakfast sandwich, or the last day we got room service (french toast and scrambled eggs for me!)
Subway breakfast sandwich: egg white, bacon, spinach, green peppers, southwest sauce on flatbread. And sugarfree soy latte!! |
Lunch: I had this sandwich every day. Okay after not finishing the first one, I learned I needed to split it with someone. Either with a Diet Coke or Dr. Pepper. (Drinking water ALL DAY!)
Dessert: On particularly hot days, the BF and I would split an “iceberg.” Shaved ice with delicious flavoring.
Snack: Either a mini-clif bar or a luna bar..depending on how hungry I was or how long it would be until dinner.
Dinner: An interesting restaurant each night. Texas T-Bone had amazing food, however, the service was awful. And I’m a waitress! I tried to make sure I ordered a salad to start each meal to combat the inevitable fattening dinner. [Fried chicken two nights and a burger one night (but the best burger ever!!)]
Dessert: Either sweet and ooey gooey microwave s’mores or one of my Carrot Muffin Cakes.
Well it’s time for me to head to work! Today at my coffee catering job, I’m actually catering a “Cold Creations” bar. This includes fruit smoothies and icecream shakes. I think I’m going to make myself a four-berry fruit smoothie and enjoy it on the way back from the event in the 101 degree weather. Toasty out!!
Stay cool and hydrated my friends!
How do you stay healthy while out of town?
Have you ever been trap-shooting or know someone who does?
