I’m working at my favorite job today…babysitting the twins!
The end table–one of their favorite toys! |
Poor girlie twin is a little sick today (weren’t they just sick??) so she has had a boogie nose all morning and woke up only half an hour after I put her down for their morning nap.
She was not really ready to wake up, however the large amounts of juice (or water with a splash of juice) she consumed was now found in her diaper. Sorry if you’re squeemish…but it was one full diaper!
After I changed her she was fussy and crabby, which is totally not like her. She is generally a happy girl, so I could tell she needed to get some more sleep.
So what did I do? I rocked her and sang to her.
It. was. precious.
Usually for their naps I turn on their sound machines (they nap in different rooms), put them in their respective cribs, tell them “Night, night” and I’m out. This is why the rocking to sleep thing was so unusual. In fact, they are generally moving at a mile a minute and don’t care to be held for longer than a few seconds!
It got me thinking about when my mom used to rock us before bedtime. I vaguely remember being rocked when mom was pregnant (probably with brother Josh) and I was asking her questions about the baby inside of her. I just didn’t get it lol.
I actually have that very rocking chair at my dad’s house because my mom was going to get rid of it! No way! I am using that for my future babes and I’m sure we will get some good use out of it.
It also got me thinking that no matter how many boogie noses or crazy-full diapers, I love this job.
I found some pictures on my camera yesterday of a meal I had here awhile back. A play on peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches (my favoritest food ever). The twins were munching on strawberries and when they got tired of them, I swiped em up!
Please enjoy this song about my favorite food.
Peanutbutter and Strawberry Open-Faced Sandwich
Simple. Semi-healthy.
It may have been less messy if the bread was toasted, however I cannot find their toaster.
I’m just praying I don’t get sick again…I have to work the early shift at Farmer’s Market this weekend! That means being up around 4:30am on Saturday. Woot.
Really, I am just thankful for my life today. I had a near accident when a car ran a VERY red light. My light had been green a couple of seconds and I slowly started moving when a car came flying by from my left. I am so, so thankful I wasn’t in a rush and wasn’t fully awake because I sat for longer than usual at the green light. Apparently God thinks I need to stay here awhile longer! This must mean I have more work to do here!!
Have a lovely, blessed day friends! Let’s try not to take this day for granted! 🙂
P.S. Another giveaway coming soon!
Do you have kiddos? Do you rock them to sleep?
Do you ever run red lights? Please don’t! Thanks. 😉
