Yesterday the BF and I celebrated my birthday.
Yes, my birthday was April 7th, however BF has been traveling A LOT and whenever he’s back in town we always seem to have some other activity going on.
We never got to celebrate just us like we had planned on so I figured..better late than never!
I got a little dressed up, which doesn’t happen very often. I’m more of a jeans and t-shirt girl. Or, as of late, workout clothes and flip flops.
This ended up involving clothes and shoes everywhere in my quest for the perfect effortlessly-cute-and-comfortable-but-a-little-dressy outfit.
Went with the ones on the left and brought the ones on the right for when my feet got sore. Always prepared. 😉 |
We started with some errands first. Got BF measured for a tux for his cousin’s wedding in August.
Then we went to the running store and finally picked out my birthday present from BF’s mom! New running shoes!!
I have a funny shoe size. 7 1/2 narrow. That’s right, narrow. Asics only makes one of their shoes in the narrow size each year and this year it was a grey and bright purple shoe.
I showed my true “colors” by wondering out loud if I should get that shoe because I literally have no workout clothes that would match. Not that I need to match every time I run…but having at least a couple of shirts or shorts to match my shoes is nice. I didn’t want to try a non-narrow shoe since I’ve been doing great with my current size. No black or blue toes…no huge blisters…
After much debate, the sales guy brings out last years asics that are white and dark blue. And come in my size!
That’s something I can work with! Doesn’t dark blue match everything or is that just me? Jeans match everything…
BF and the sales guy were laughting at how super excited I got about the fun flowers on the inside.
Cute right?? |
I had been craving sushi for possibly months. It seriously hit the spot.
We don’t get too crazy…mostly stick to the crab rolls but we try to get a new roll each time. Our new roll was the shrimp tempura (on the right). Not too shabby!
The very first time I had sushi was actually on our first date, a little over four years ago. He invited me to what I thought was a group outing, but I found out it was actually just the two of us when he called to ask what time he should pick me up. He showed up in (his parents) ’81 corvette. Smooth.
The rest is history. 😉
Then we decided it was time for some dessert.
Cookies are my favorite, so we drove all over the city trying to find a place that was open…I mean seriously one place closed at 5pm. On a Saturday. What? Where do I live??
We settled on Paradise Bakery located in an outdoor mall.
There was a show at the comedy club so we had to park super far away. Hello back-up shoes!
We got four kinds of cookies: sugar, peanutbutter chocolate chip (my favorite!), chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin (ew raisins..), a sugar free carmel-vanilla latte and a black cherry smoothie. Perfection.
Much like our first date, we didn’t want the night to end. We headed to his place and lost ourselves in America’s Funniest Home Videos on Netflix. We laughed the night away! Before we knew it, it was midnight and I still had to go to the store to get ribs for the next day.
I had planned on doing crockpot ribs, starting at 7 or 8am, but after realizing that 2 racks don’t fit into my crockpot, I decided to bake them. The auroma is filling my nostrils as I type this.
I didn’t get home until about 1:30am and by the time I had gotten the ribs soaking, it was 2:30 in the morning. And I had to volunteer in the nursery at church this morning. One tired (but happy) girl here.
Get excited for a yummy rib recipe coming up! Hoping Emily (my friend I met at the zoo Friday) and Joe will like it!
Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday!
What’s your favorite dessert?
Are you a sushi person? What’s the craziest roll you’ve had?
