**Happy Easter!!**
It was super weird being out of town on my birthday, not with my family.
But it did fall on Easter weekend so of course we have to split up time equally with both families (me and the BF).
First card is from my youngest sister Rachel. It says “Happy Birthday and Easter!” Love! |
We went to the BF’s side Friday night and Saturday, up at the farm in small town, Nebraska.
I’m not gonna lie, I was nervous about my long run that was scheduled for Saturday, since there isn’t really a great place to run at the farm.
I spent Saturday morning putting up the incredibly informative first post in the series Running for Newbies (unofficially Running for Dummies).
Then the BF gave me two birthday cards (one funny and one super sweet and sentimental) plus a couple of very thoughtful giftcards and a promise to pay for me and a friend to get our nails done.
He knows me all too well in the fact that I almost never spend money on clothes or nails. I’m super excited to pamper myself!! I’m thinking right before my test on Tuesday?
Then we were off to have some of grandma’s home cooking. I must get the recipe for that bean salad!!
I got some questions on why in the world I was taking pictures of my food…apparently this isn’t normal? |
There were probably more dessert options than all of the lunch items combined. But do you think this sweet tooth minded?
One of the sweets on the spread were some cake balls my friend Mallory and I created.
They were a huge hit and one of the BF’s cousin ate about 5 of them. And commented about them on my Facebook later. 😉

Then it was time to get some studying finished and a nutrition quiz taken. Yep, on my birthday.
All afternoon I was kind of dreading my run.
It was a little chilly out and super windy. 23mph to be exact. And on a farm with no buildings to block the wind it can get pretty rough.

I knew I had 8 miles on the schedule, but there aren’t exactly sidewalks around the farm.
I’ve run along the side of the road before, but those farmers come flying over those hills and scare the whits out of me.
I decided to run along side the cornfield where it was basically a trail run. The ground was in no way level and a lot of it was actually sandy. The wind was horrible, but the view was amazing.
I completed two laps for a total of 4 miles. I could have run another 2, but I would have been wiped out AND I heard talk that there were sloppy joes waiting for us.
Sorry, 8 miles, I will tackle you later!
It’s my birthday and I will run 4 miles if I want to!

Easter today was pretty lovely.
The BF and I spent time in the car on the way back to the city and it was so nice to be able to talk! Believe it or not, we didn’t really get to the whole weekend since we drove separately to the farm and he spent most of his time playing working outside.
I didn’t take a single picture today, and it was amazing just drinking in all of the precious time with family.
I hope you all had a great Easter and remember the reason for the season! Jesus is alive! How awesome is that??
If you could have anything for your birthday, what would it be?
What are your Easter traditions? Do you have to split time with your significant other’s family?
