My friend Mallory and I made more cake pops!
This time with the pink, red and white theme of Valentine’s Day. (Okay a lot of them were cake balls because those are MUCH easier to make.)
(P. S. Have you checked out my Valentine’s Day link-up yet?? Link up your Valentine’s Day treats and check out the others featured!)
I made 3 different cake flavors and they all turned out amazing:
- Strawberry with cream cheese frosting
- Cherry chip with cream cheese frosting
- Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting
- {See my last cake pops post for “how-tos”}
(I would say each cake makes about 24 cake pops/balls..just FYI!)
I loved the pink effect the strawberry cake had.
We used candy melts on the outside. If you’ve never heard of candy melts, they are basically colored almond bark, which is a revolution in itself.
Have you ever tried to add food coloring to almond bark? Well..it doesn’t work.

It will become a chunky, non-melty consistency, so don’t try it. Just get candy melts! 🙂
Whether you have a “Valentine” in your life or not, you can enjoy creating these yummy treats for yourself, friends, co-workers..we brought some of these to work and they were demolished in minutes.
And better yet, make them with a friend! Mallory and I had fun being creative, getting cake and frosting in our nails and, of course, chatting about life. She is such a sweet Christian friend. It’s very refreshing to be able to discuss faith and work and boys all in the same sitting!
I heart you Malalalory! |
I have a feeling we will be getting together very soon for our next cake pop project. 🙂
Oh and what to do with the leftover candy melts and sprinkles that have fallen onto your handy sprinkle-catcher plate? Don’t waste it!
Find pretzels or crackers to dip them in the almond bark, lay on waxed paper (or paper plates) and sprinkle the leftover sprinkles!
Now I will give the rest of my cake balls and cake pops and lovely Valentine’s Day pretzels to the person who comes over and cleans up my mess while I finish my Chemistry homework. Takers?? I even covered the entire table with waxed paper for easy clean-up!
What? You don’t want to clean up my crazy mess??
Happy Valentine’s Day anyhow!
And make sure to stop by my Valentine’s Day link-up! You can post your treats/crafts there all week!
