Hello friends,
I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween weekend!
I decided to take on the task of throwing a Halloween party this year.
The BF lives with a roomie who owns a house so the roomie’s GF and I decided we should have a Halloween party at the house. I have never thrown a Halloween party before and had really no idea how to go about this, but it sounded like fun and it was two months away so we’d have plenty of time…right?

Well of course it was a lot of last minute planning and a little stressing because the BF has been out of town a lot. I ended up picking him up from the airport Friday night (night before the party) and we went to Wal-Mart for a lot of our party supplies {including Halloween oreos} but NOT including the sherbet for the punch because they DIDN’T HAVE IT!? I thought Wal-Mart had everything…?
The day of the party I spent litterally 4 hours making the delish oreo balls. Thank heavens I had made the ghost treats the day before!
Ya oreo balls are probably the messiest treats to make…but so worth it!! |
I got to the house a couple hours before the party only to discover it was just me and the BF who would be cleaning and setting up for the party. Just pile on the stress please. The BF is so awesome in dealing with stressed Amanda. He got treats in return. 🙂 Good times.
BF’s roomie’s GF (did you follow that?) made these amazingly decorated cupcakes.
We cleaned as much as we could and feng shueyed it all and then I decided I should probably put my costume on. I went as Tinker Bell because I had a homecoming dress that was green and I was supposed to have some props..like wings and a wand…but SOMEONE forgot them lol.
BF (went as the “evil” version of himself…) and Tinkerbell |
As planned we did the punch at the last minute so it would stay cold and fizzy for as long as possible. I found this recipe on Marthastewart.com and put it up on my Pinterest board.
Pineapple juice, orange juice, orange gelatin mix, orange sherbet and ginerale made the perfect orange-colored Halloween punch! Super sweet and even better when mixed with a little Malibu rum. 😉
Hmm mine didn’t turn out like Martha Stewart’s picture… |
After all the stressing it turned out to be a great night! The costume contest went great…we used beads as tally marks. We handed out two to each person and they could give them out to the people they thought were the most awesomely dressed. Here’s a sample of the sweet costumes:
BF’s roomie GF and roomie. Yes, that is a Halloween tree in the background 😉 It’s actually a seasonal tree lol |
Where’s Waldo and Carmen San Diego (BF’s Sis) {LOVE} |
Cousin Eddy on Christmas Vacation…tied for the win with his wife (Elle Woods below) |
Bacon and Elle Woods from Legally Blonde (NOT Paris Hilton lol) |
Boxed Wine..with a working spout! He came at about midnight after we had finished the costume contest… |
I would have given the boxed wine costume the prize if he had come earlier! I can’t believe he had a working spout too!! I’m glad we decided to throw the party…even though I was stressed out a bit…it was worth it to see people have a good time and to catch up with friends. 🙂
BF’s roomie’s GF, friend, me |
I actually ended up working Halloween too and decided to dress as a runner (because it was comfy and I had all the materials). I worked about 2 hours and got sent home because really…who goes for wings and beer on Halloween?? We did have fun tho…
I told them to stop eating my leftover truffles I brought in and say cheese!! |
Love this girl!! |

What were YOU for Halloween??
Have you ever thrown a party that you thought you had sooooo much time to plan for and then leave EVERYTHING to the last minute?
