I think I am an expert at one thing and one thing only..baking cookies to perfection.
Seriously if I could have one dessert for the rest of my life it would be cookies. I LOVE COOKIES.
The BF’s favorite cookie is a Snickerdoodle. So I have a special secret recipe that I make for him because I am a good GF. He left for Sacramento Sunday night (two hour time difference craziness!!) so I decided to make him some of my famouse doodles..with a bit of a twist.

I got the idea from a recipe I found blog surfing, which I posted on my Friday Five Foodie Finds from a gal who calls herself Ms. Humble, which is funny because if her treats taste HALF as good as they look…she would have no reason at all to be humble. In other words…amazing pictures on her site! They put my photos TO SHAME.
I basically made my Lemon Doodles from my Snickerdoodle recipe, but for the flavoring added 1/2 tsp lemon extract, 1 tsp vanilla extract and the zest from one lemon.
I got to use my fancy zester that the BF got me for Christmas. I also used the zester for the orange zest in my Pumpkin Spice Orange Soaked Muffins (guest post I did for Lee at Fit Foodie Finds).
Gotta taste test right? I am pretty sure I “taste-tested” about five cookies worth…but who’s counting right??
I made the BF as many as could fit on a tray because I had little to zero time to get these guys made before dropping him off at the airport.
My Sunday was very full…started out with an 8:30am appointment at church for nursery orientation. Yay! That only took about half an hour and then I had an hour until I had to be in the nursery so I actually brought my art history homework to work on. Yes I am that productive. 😉

After playing with babies for an hour and a half, me and the BF went to Chilis! I worked there for about three years before the wing-and-beer joint I work at now. I miss it!

Then I went to visit my aunt who is sadly in the hospital as a result of her alcoholism. She is doing alright but seriously there is so much that can go wrong when a person abuses alcohol! I don’t want to get into the details, but it was so sad seeing her because she looked so little and fragile.
It’s very interesting to me to think about her being an alcoholic. My perception of an alcoholic is usually someone who is mean and vulgar and most likely and abusive drunk. This is not my aunt at all! She is such a sweet person who hasn’t been able to kick this habit due to many issues in her life. Please pray for her if you think about it! I really hope she can recover and heal for good but honestly that is in God’s hands now.
After visiting my aunt, I rushed home to make the few doodles I could and took the BF to the airport. {I made the rest Monday and did my photo shoot then lol.} He is traveling SO MUCH now with training for his job I get sad to see him go. :’-( But really the busyness of school is a great distraction. (There’s one positive to all the school work!!)
When I got home I worked on (surprise!) homework and took a break at about 10pm to do some Hip Hop Abs. Love those DVD’s! Super fun and I get a good sweat session in every time. They even have a 5 minute workout…perfect for a busy person like moi.
I hope everyone is having a great week so far! I am off to get some din din and head out to bible study! Hoping it won’t go too late so I can do what? HOMEWORK! 😉
